Haven't you ever seen those "gotta go" commercials? I'm 55. I go right before the movie starts. Sometimes I gotta go again, especially if I'm drinking soda and/or eating candy.

Re: Movies: Talk About What You've Seen Lately--Part 3

Last weekend I saw A Simple Favor.
Really hadn't even heard of it before that day, it was the only thing showing at the theater where I was that seemed interesting.

Can't say it was a superb film or anything, but I found it very entertaining. It's kind of halfway between a legitimate thriller / mystery movie and a spoof of one, which is an odd place, but it worked for me.

I had seen Anna Kendrick on a lot of talk shows and she was always hilarious. Don't think I actually have watched any previous movies she was in though, and pretty sure this is her first starring role. It was perfect for her personality strengths. Blake Lively as the other female lead was also very good. The male lead was kinda meh, but it may just be that his part was not as interesting. This movie was probably made more for women than men, but not really a chick flick.

My doc asked me ten years ago if I had any problems. I told him I had to get up to see at night. He said that's not unusual for a man of your age.

I asked him, "When the **** did I get to be a man of my age?"

Why do you have to see anything at night? You're sleeping.

Autocorrect: "see" should be "pee."

I did. But I also yearn for happy endings, even though the film doesn't need one or merit one. I liked the contemporary feel of the film--of course we know that a Grammy nomination, never mind three, is the kiss of death.

But, damnit, I want love to conquer all. And perhaps it does in a strange way. I'm thinking of the closing moments of the film, that brief flashback. It's how memory works, and is there really anything better than music and film to trigger our memories, to relive all we thought gone in an instant?

I'm never the best person to review films. I can provide an adequate plot summary, perhaps some analysis, but I also know how films must end. I don't want a tacked on happy ending, but I hope for the best. Continue to hope for the best.

Would I have been happier with a different ending? Sure. Would it have fit the entire trajectory of the film? Of course not. But the heart wants what it wants. For Ally, what she wanted was to be seen and loved. So, for her, it's a love story. A sad one, but, in the end, aren't they all?

Re: Movies: Talk About What You've Seen Lately--Part 3

Iím diabetic, so itís hard for me to make it through a 2+ hour movie w/out having to get up and use the restroom.

I was 4-handed at a WSOP final table in 2016 and drank a Red Bull (dumb) and I had to pee and there was like 90+ minutes until the next break. Meanwhile, I have like 8-12 big blinds the whole time and we are 4-handed so itís not like I can afford to run to the bathroom. They arenít all that close anyway. I asked the TD if we could take a break and my table mates showed me mercy but the TD didnít because they were live streaming.

So I was in pure misery for the last 45 minutes or so. With a short stack. Playing short-handed. For life-changing money. I was literally jumping around the Thunderdome holding my crotch and trying to stay busy in between hands. It was outrageous.

You should have used the Niven method, which is to get hold of an empty wine bottle and remain seated.

Let us know when you are going... Iím sure Iíll see the film a few more times.

Re: bathroom breaks... Is Vegas unique in having bars at the theaters? If not, do you lunatics watch movies without drinking? For the second viewing we brought flasks and did a shot of bourbon every time Jack had a drink.

Re: Movies: Talk About What You've Seen Lately--Part 3

Didn't think I was going to like A Star Is Born based off the trailers but was blown away by how crazy talented Bradley Cooper and Gaga are, The movie has some pacing issues, moves from point A to B to C way too fast which kind of makes some of the emotional scenes in the middle portion of f of the movie seem shallow. The concert scenes are absolutely electric though and make up for whatever shortcomings the movie has.

Also Sam Elliott is goddamn national treasure
