Despite having low expectations after the trailer, I enjoyed it. The basic gist of the book is there, but on the whole, it's a lot different. The framework and basic plot are the same, but most of the action is totally changed. I still like the book more, but understanding that creative choices have to be made to translate it to film, what they did worked well. My wife had never read the book and she liked the movie a lot.

I think they should have spent an extra couple minutes in the beginning explaining everything, as it went really fast and I'm afraid those who didn't read the book might have been lost for a while.
I didn’t have any issues understanding what was going on, but I do wish there would have been more backstory on the IOI. There were things that didn’t make sense with them. Overall, it was an enjoyable movie. Started out really strong but lost steam near the end. 7/10 for me.

Next up are BlacKKKlansman and Crazy Rich Asians.

Escape Plan 2(yes 2)

Maybe the worst Sly Stallone movie I've ever seen. The 2 "stars"(Stallone and Batista) don't do much. The premise in general is out of this world horrific. And for a movie that presumably has the coin to get Stallone and even Batista in it,the CGI is awful. The whole thing just looks 2nd rate. Does Sly need $ that bad to do this???

Went back home and visited the parents for the last week, and we ended up watching the whole Mission Impossible series, a movie each night, culminating in MI6 at the theaters.

Overall I'd say the series is impressive, in that I think it really does improve each time with the exception of MI2, which is by far the worst. 2 to 3 is the hugest jump in production quality and stunts, really modernized it and 3 through 6 are all really good and stand up nicely. Sticks to the formula and just does it well.

I think I'd probably rank them something like 6 > 4 > 5=3 >> 1 >>> 2.

The ending of 6 was a bit much but it was balanced out by the awesomeness of the car and motorcycle chases, and the halo jump. Sweet stuff.

3 is always better than I remember. PSH does so much with what on script could easily be a nothing role.

I'm not sure how many of the MI movies I've even seen, but PSH is definitely the only villain I remember.

I saw Under the Skin on Netflix and it wasn't that great. Disappointment.

Been working my way through the Rocky films lately, and just finished Rocky IV. Despite IV being a decent film, the series is getting a bit repetitive now. Also went into it expecting it to be way more jingoistic than it was, a credit pretty much as to how the ending was done.

Watch it again. It gets under your skin.

Was the opening sequence a 2001 ripoff or homage?

Didn’t occur to me.

First film I walked out on.

I like Under the Skin. A film entirely about mood.

I always liked MI:1 even though most people hated it. I know there's that one confusing bit where he's verbally describing a sequence of events by mentally imagining a different sequence of events, but once you get what's happening there it's a pretty slick way of telling a story. The helicopter scene bit where he's hanging by a cable are A+. Plus, Jan Reno.

Tom Cruise is now the same age that Jon Voight was in the first MI

Don't stop after V.

Better yet skip V and just watch Rocky Balboa and Creed

Rocky really seems like it would be a horrible series, but only one stinker. I don't think there's an alternative universe anywhere that has a 7 movie Rocky series with less stink than this one.

This is correct.

Watched "Revenge" 2017, that has to be the bloodiest movie I have seen in a long time. lol
Nothing great but not bad for an action, horror, thriller. And the chick is hot.

Saw Red Sparrow last night. Aside from the cringe from visceral violence, rape, and torture this movie has virtually nothing to offer.

There's not much in the way of a story or any character development. There's nothing to care at all about at any point. Should have just shut this one off 30 minutes in when I considered it.

Movie Pass down to 5 cents a share now. Why the hell didn't you guys say that they were on the stock market??

1 month ago at $27, 4 months ago $1000 a share? Am I looking at the right symbol.
This would have been the easiest short ever.

I have had MoviePass for ~2 weeks now and have been able to use it for 1 of the 4 movies I’ve seen in that span. Good stuff.
