That's one of Adam Sandler's best roles!

I believe in Japanese, on verbs, adding -zu to the end of the the word makes it negative, or without.

So is it the case that Atari is saying, "lost Spots" or "missing Spots" in this way?
This is really observant. As Cranberry pointed out, it's a cute way of transliterating "Spot." And you're right about the -zu ending. It's a way of saying "without," as in "I sat down without speaking." I've never heard it tacked on to a noun, though.

Also note that Japanese syllables do end with vowels, but guys like to leave them out to sound cool, so in samurai movies or anime it can sound like they're hawking up popcorn and can be pretty wtf to listen to.

I went to 1st grade in Japan long ago, where I learned to talk like a kid, then studied proper Japanese in college, which I have long since completely forgotten, so take what I say with healthy skepticism.

No distractions. It was awesome

In light of the MI movie, I really want to recommend some of the old Buster Keaton / Harold Lloyd short films for their incredible stunt work. In some cases the effects were done with clever camera angles, in other cases the actors just went balls out to do the shot. Harold Lloyd had already lost the use of his thumb and forefinger to a stunt gone wrong when he did his iconic clock tower stunt.

Incredibles 2 is the funniest movie I've seen in awhile.

"Meeting" with beautiful degenerates: check.

Gomers: Pretty girls.

Wheelchair dancing: why?

Would you sit on my face? Apparently so.

Jack Black: As the ghost of Boogie Nights.

Gymnasts on the lawn: God.

Raquel Welch's snatch: God.

Hard to say if this was an unsuccessful movie or a successful infomercial. If you like Joaquin Phoenix (I do), wait for TV and check it out.
haven't seen this yet but the scenes where he was at the rehab facility/hospital were filmed at the rehab facility I stayed at for a month (rancho los amigos) and my main therapist had a very small part in the scene where they are moving him either in or out of bed.

the character actually went to rancho back when he was injured tho according to my therapist the facility was much less sophisticated back then n the dude had a very negative experience there (a lot of which was due to his anger at being injured) but now rancho is the premier acute rehab facility in CA and one of best in the entire country.

Really? I was a little disappointed in it. Most likely because I had built it up so much in my head and my expectations were too high. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed it; just not as much as the first movie. I've watched the original numerous times over the past 15 years, but I'm not sure that I would go out of my way to watch the sequel again.

I would still recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the original (and who didn't!). Just be careful to keep your expectations in check.

Man, I am gutted after watching this movie. Beautifully acted, directed, and shot.

It's the story of little Loung Ung, a Cambodian child during the Khmer Rouge genocide of the late 70s. Director Jolie makes a remarkable choice and shoots this completely from Loung's POV, and because of that, it is a mostly dialog free, subjective, and impressionistic.

We follow Loung and her family of 7 as they are forced out of Phnom Pen into labor and re-education camps. Luong's father is always in danger, as he he hiding the fact he worked for the fallen government's military. Obviously, the family is separated and Luong must learn how to set mines and shoot guns for the Khmer Rouge.

Watching a family be torn apart by pure evil is devastating.

Luong is played by Cambodian child actress Sareum Srey Moch, and hers is the performance of the year. Just spectacular.

I haven't heard much about this movie, probably because it isn't in English and it was distributed on Netflix, but First they Killed My Father is a devastating, beautiful film, and one of the very best movies of the year. Heck, I'd put it on a list of the very best war and/or child movies ever made. Pixote, Hope and Glory, Forbidden Games...this is those films' equal.
Didn't know I was talking about the United States with this.

Too many heartbreaking stories over the years from my students who came from Cambodia during this time. But also one of the joys of working at a community college.

Watched Blue Jasmine and The Disaster Artist, perhaps making for a nice double feature on the ways we deceive ourselves into believing we are something other than what we are.

Trivia: Besides The Disaster Artist, what other film uses Corona's "Rhythm of the Night" for the closing credits?

Rewatched The Raid 1 + The Raid 2.

Best action movies of all time imo, the fight scenes are incredible. The first one is more intense as it is pretty much non stop action. Second one has more of a plot, which just good. The fight scenes are better, bigger and more explicit though. Every single one is amazing, and that car chase.. wow. Some of the camera work is really crazy in nr 2. Hard to say which one is better.

To bad the 3th movie seems years of, if its ever happening.

Always nice to see when people post about enjoying The Raid and Raid 2.

I was wondering if anyone here would be able to tell me which are the best versions to get on Blu ray?
08-01-2018 , 07:48 PM
The Raid movies are both phenomenal

Same thing he did for the raid movies, so sounds promising.

Re-watched the original 1974 version of The Taking of Pelham 123 with Robert Shaw and Walter Matthew last night on TCM.com. For those of you who may have only seen the 2009 remake starring Denzel Washington and John Travolta, please do yourself a favor and watch the far superior original. It is available on TCM.com (and on demand on TCM) until August 5th.
