This was the original movie from 1996 and Armand Assante playing the part.
I just meant JT playing an Italian mob boss seems silly.

Cargo https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3860916/

Great Netflix Original, post apocalyptic, zombie drama from Australia.
Marting Freeman plays a man who has a short time to live and has to find a safe place
to leave his infant daughter.
Truly emotional and intense movie that doesn't focus on the horor of a zombie
outbreak but follows the increasingly desperate plight of the tragic dad.
Martin Freeman is excellent.
Definatly one of my favourite Z movies.

THIS. Two is indisputably awful and almost killed the franchise.

Three is passable and did the job.

I have seen Ghost Protocol over and over again. It is terrific.

Rogue Nation is fantastic. The scene in the opera house is one of the best action set pieces I've ever seen.

And the next one looks to be incredible.

It's bizarre, but it's like the F&tF franchise. Somehow, the sequels keep (mostly) getting better.

This is literally a staple from the TV series it's based on...

Your comment is almost like going to see Dumb & Dumber and complaining that it was too slapstick

Hmm, I was supposed to know what the TV show was like when it was cancelled 23 years prior, when I was 4 years old, and AFAIK never syndicated regularly in reruns (at least it never was where I lived). The only thing I knew about the TV show was the theme song and "your mission, if you choose to accept it".

Deadpool 2

Better than the first imo. First half hour is a bit flat but from there on the pace is much better and its great fun. Amazing action, many laugh out loud moments and cable is really bad ass. The whole x-force plane scene and the leg scene (you'll know) are A+. Didnt really care about the kid though.

The MI TV show was so boss, don't know why it isn't in syndication anywhere. For a while it was on Netflix.

Celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary today with a romantic showing of Deadpool 2.

Clearly this type of movie isn't for everyone, but anyone who liked the first and doesn't like this one is humorless and needs to take life a bit less seriously. It was fantastic.

Conversely, I grew up watching the tv show and that is the main reason that I hate the movie version. I went to the first one with great anticipation, but when they ridiculously turned Jim Phelps into a villain, I was so disgusted that I haven't seen one since.

A story about a real life famous mobster who came to power after killing the prior boss certainly seems like it could be interesting if told with honesty and insider knowledge. Trailer makes this look closer to a hagiography though.

Hostiles - 29/100

Started out ok....turned into an absolute sh*tshow. I was surprised to read that the director did Crazy Heart (which I loved) because as hard as the movie tried for greatness and for emotional depth, there was nothing to make the viewer feel anything. On top of that, there were too many unbelievable add-ons to the plot - it felt like the director was on drugs and deciding “Now we are going to have these horse thieves come in and do something terrible!” Also, way too much stereotypical “Indian” stuff.

Lastly, I think there was a mid-movie unexplained actor switch.

In the end I found it to be a completely overly dramatic unbelievable movie that even had me laughing at parts. Some of the acting and some of the cinematography were good but those are the only good things I can say about it.

I knocked this out the other night, very nice. Lars I assume is eccentric enough to be classifed as slightly autistic these days, and this movie treats his weirdness very respectfully.

^Right on...
What I also found interesting was the reactions of the supporting players to Lars and his early adult obsession and his overwhelming loss of his mother... This includes my own reactions to Lars. I was truly touched and emotional as I experienced lars awakening.
