Never heard of empirical data being used to try and explain a position of particular view?

When someone tells you to eat at a restaurant based on the fact that they transmissions it, you are experiencing an empirical recommendation.

Speaking to a colleague I hired this summer, she began to ask me about a film but had trouble describing the plot, so she said it had a phone booth.

Local Hero?

Bingo!

Re: Movies: Talk About What You've Seen Lately--Part 3

Howard Hawks original Scarface is on TMC at 9pm pst.

If you've never had the opportunity to see this magnificent film, now is your chance.

Loosely Based on the actual Scareface (Al Capone) and his ascendancy to power and the love of his own sister. Wonderfully portrayed by Paul Muni.

Of special note is the use of symbolism by Hawks, and his wonderful opening tracking sequence of a Chicago style hit/murder done in a single camera shot. The entire movie is period perfect because... well... It was shot when Al Capone was still alive and operating.

Re: Movies: Talk About What You've Seen Lately--Part 3

I can think of a ton of movies that have a phone booth scene, with the obvious one being the movie called 'Phone Booth' (lol).

Superman and the Matrix movies we're the others that quickly came to mind.

I hadn't even heard of the movie 'Local Hero' until now.

Just watched Lady Snowblood.

Wow! Fantastic and lots of fun. Loved the style and back and forth narrative.

Just saw Kansas City Confidential for the first time. Holy cow, what a great movie. This is what "hard-boiled" is all about. And Coleen Gray was one beautiful woman.
