Not sure which one you're referring to? I guess Upstream Color would be the outlier of that group but I thought that movie was a masterpiece. And then Good Will Hunting and Finding Forrester are so similar thematically but I love them both so much they each have to make my personal top 5. Really hard to pick only 5!

No, The S comes after it on my list of campy schlock
07-14-2017 , 01:42 AM
Vertigo
Apocalypse Now
The Godfather I
Taxi Driver
2001 A Space Odyssey
07-14-2017 , 02:17 AM
Immortal Beloved
The Godfather, part II
Memento
The Lost Boys
Aliens

I'm always tempted to include Tombstone until I remember that what I like about that movie is the Kilmer and Biehn performances and not much else.

This is a really weird film. It is a mix of animation, historic footage, and survivors recounting their experience.

The animation was sort of distracting to me. The voices of the characters seemed to be a mix of the actual person telling their story and actors reading from prior interviews of people (no longer living) that had been there.

The actual footage was riveting but there just wasn't enough of it (I'm guessing) to tell the story from all of the perspectives that they chose to tell.

Towards the end, they shifted to real interviews of some of the people, which I found much more interesting.

I don't think this was necessarily a top notch documentary but it was definitely worth a watch. I knew the story well (see below) and I had seen almost all of the footage, but I'm guessing if you don't know much about it you would find it pretty interesting.

I found it especially interesting because I lived it somewhat. My father was teaching at UT at the time, and on campus, and I remember my mother listening to the events on the radio. She was really upset not knowing what was going on.
I thought tower was excellent, really engrossing.

I dunno how ppl can narrow down a top 5 list.
I don't think I could narrow down a top 15 list honestly.

so many movies that are my "favorite".

Not another top five list... top ten is almost impossible, top 25 is doable but quite a long list.

Top five from a genre list is doable.
Western
Sci fi
Drama
Comedy
Musical

Alien is the superior film imo but they are both in different genres almost and classics in their own right.

It's interesting that a film like Boyhood goes in the top 5 of all time for some, but I would have had it in my top 5 worst (that I saw) of that year. Different strokes I guess.

it's still under embargo by the critics, but all the murmurs are that it is amazing

This is lunacy.

Moana was good, and imo one of the better animations to come from Disney recently. Better than Frozen and on par with Zootopia. Jermaine from Flight of the Conchords did my favorite song:

Extremely disappointing given the light that the hateful eight had a fairly successful run on a variety of film stock (35mm/65mm)...

I knew of the passing of v egas a few weeks ago, but I am still very hopeful that we'll get the iMax laser print... which is really probably the absolute best.

Surprised to see Boondock Saints didn't make the cut.
