Same for me, Fast Times is the GOAT 80's teen movie and it's not close.

Also where have the great teen movies gone? Seems like we get one a decade now instead of one every couple of years.

I prefer The Sure Thing

Too touchy a premise.

Wouldn't argue much with that choice.

Spring Break is my choice for best "B" Teen 80's movie. It's fun, it's got a little heart and even a couple of decent performances.

I saw it with a filmie as well. I enjoyed it for what it was and he was very much "meh" about it. He was able to compare it to many movies and basically saw it from the perspective that nothing was original, the chase scenes weren't impressive, and yes, the Blue Brothers still has the absolute best chase scenes ever.

It was okay, but nothing spectacular. The acting outside of Spacey was pretty bad. Be honest with that, at least.

Wonder Woman

You know, I had no desire to see this one. I guess I felt a little patriotic since it is banned in a ton of countries because the lead is Isreali.

I really tried... 45 minutes was just too much to take. I guess I'd get the love if I was into all that comic book stuff, but sorry.... not for me.

I'll add a thought to the Wonder Woman opinion. I absolutely hate watching a bunch of back-story. The movie, from what I've seen of it, should not be 2 1/2 hours long. It could be 90 minutes.

Moving Violations such an underrated comedy. Curious what the premise of Better Off Dead was? Wasn't it just Cusack trying to hook up with that French girl?

He was trying to kill himself.

Several funny scenes of suicide attempts gone wrong.

Guess because I was 8 I didn't really see it as that. I just saw it as a funny movie, didn't put much thought into the premise.

I thought this was a great movie. I also thought the opening scene of Harold and Maude where Harold has hung himself is hilarious. I guess they have to be careful these days about what they put in movies.

I love HaM.... such a great great movie full of joy and life even though when viewed thru the spectacle of modern eyes, I have to cringe slightly at some of the political incorrectness.

World of Tomorrow, on Netflix, is an amazing, poignant animated sci-fi film that explores, like my favorite films, memory and what it means to live and die in this world. It's only 16 minutes. Watch it.

Indignation, James Schamus, 2016

I was looking forward to seeing this, as I've always been a Schamus fan (as a writer and producer), and I also like Tracy Letts, who co-stars. It's about a Jewish kid from NJ who goes to college in the mid-west, and then....not much else.

The famous 20-minute office scene between Letts and star Logan Lerner is electrifying, but the rest of the movie, well, I don't get the point of it.

Of course, it's based on a Philip Roth book, and I've always really disliked Roth. And the movie has, as Roth always does, have lots of meaningless handjobs and blow jobs, Jewish self-hatred, and smart dialog.

But other than that...meh.

Baby Driver was really good. Awesome soundtrack and Elgort killed it as the lead. One of my most fun theater experiences in a long time... and I don't usually even like action movies. 8.5/10

Saw Spider Man Homecoming right after in a double header... sadly such a huge step down. Holland did a good job as Peter Parker but felt like the movie just went on about 20 minutes too long and fell into the same Marvel cliches that I'm very sick of. Liked the ending enough though to give it 6.5/10

He wasn't. Snowpiercer was by Joon-ho Bong, the guy who did Memories of Murder and The Host

You know, that's what I thought, but some website has it wrong!

re: 80s teen movies, the last american virgin is brilliant imo, esp the ending scene.

Guys criticising Snowpiercer are wrong, it was great. But I'm a sucker for a visually exciting movie.

I agree with you about both marks and finally I feel like found someone with a similar view on movies
(my friend mostly have a bit or a lot different opinions about movies, though they are still awesome)

Tower Documentary about the University of Texas tower sniper shootings in 1966.

This is a really weird film. It is a mix of animation, historic footage, and survivors recounting their experience.

The animation was sort of distracting to me. The voices of the characters seemed to be a mix of the actual person telling their story and actors reading from prior interviews of people (no longer living) that had been there.

The actual footage was riveting but there just wasn't enough of it (I'm guessing) to tell the story from all of the perspectives that they chose to tell.

Towards the end, they shifted to real interviews of some of the people, which I found much more interesting.

I don't think this was necessarily a top notch documentary but it was definitely worth a watch. I knew the story well (see below) and I had seen almost all of the footage, but I'm guessing if you don't know much about it you would find it pretty interesting.

I found it especially interesting because I lived it somewhat. My father was teaching at UT at the time, and on campus, and I remember my mother listening to the events on the radio. She was really upset not knowing what was going on.

If it was great, you coulda said it was a towering achievement in documentary film. But sounds like it was more hit and miss.

Thanks man! I'm far from a movie expert and I have some very dissenting opinions compared to my friends too. It's fun posting in this thread and learning from the true film buffs here.
