A Quiet Place was good. I appreciate a horror or sci fi that just throws you into it. The opening sequence was really effective. The only thing that bugged me was the ending --

Spoiler:
like, you didn't realize you could shoot these things? Or that geez, perhaps the solution to beating them is somehow noise related? I'd think society would have figured that out pretty quick.

Closest comparable was Signs, for me. Similar spirit.

a quiet place

Well I'd heard great things from critics and fans a like. So combined with that and not seeing it in theatre I was totally dissapointed. Even kinda mad. It was downright boring and not stressful like a horror film is supposed to be. Krasinki and blunt fooled everybody and made a lot of money off their looks I think.

Disclaimer: I'm very hard to please in regards to horror flicks

Blunt has looks?

I also thought the movie didn't live up to the hype. It was entertaining, but chock-full of major plot holes, not just the ending.

lol at not thinking Emily Blunt is a beautiful woman

I only remember seeing her in this movie and the one where she's a bad ass training Tom Cruise. Neither were glam roles, I guess she could clean up well, but A Quiet Place certainly isn't built around her looks.

Oh I did see her in Looper also, another gritty role. Not saying she's ugly, but she's not an actress whose beauty movies are built around.

I caught it on TNT one night when I was making dinner. I thought it was fun movie. Wasnt paying attention enough to argue the plot. Emily Blunt was gritty in Sicario too. I think its hot though. Here she is with Craig.

Timothée Chalamet is in official negotiations to headline Denis Villeneuve's Dune...

EB was great in Charlie Wilson's War as a pot smoking nimph/daughter.

Blunt is smoking hot. But yeah she doesn't play glamour roles which is awesome. She's sexy af in edge of tomorrow.

But regarding a quiet place there's just no reason for me to care about the characters. I feel like yea the gimmick was no dialogue but damn, a couple of flashback scenes for development would have helped.

Oh and the aliens looked like a direct rip off of venom.

Blunt is obviously hot. It's not like a young woman can get anywhere in Hollywood unless she's at least a 9.

Love that film - one of Jackie Chan's best. It was his breakout film, I think. That is - He broke out of the Hong Kong film prison full throttle.

A Quiet Place - It falls under my all time rule of 90 minutes or less. Any movie that is exactly 90 minutes or less is going to suck most of the time. There is no time for character and plot development.

And now there will be a part 2, maybe they can stretch it to 95 minutes.

Please tell me that you are not seriously recommending that anyone watch that POS film. I've been a Star Trek fan since 1966, can pretty much quote the dialogue of every single episode of The Original Series, have seen all the movies and watched all of the spinoff tv shows, and even I won't watch that movie again. I still remember how amped I was walking into the movie theater in 1979, and how disappointed I was walking out. What a colossal turd.

But speaking of Star Trek...

I just finished watching For The Love of Spock on Netflix. What an absolutely fantastic documentary about Leonard Nimoy, focusing of course, on his portrayal of the iconic character. This came out in 2016 and I'm trying to figure out how I just became aware of it now. This is a must-watch for Star Trek fans and even for those of you who are only vaguely familiar with its history.

Oh, and to tie this into my comment above about Star Trek: The Motion Picture, even Leonard Nimoy says in the documentary that the whole cast new that the script was complete crap when they were filming it, and that they did what they could to make it better, but it was to no avail.

Anyway, here's the trailer from the documentary's 2016 theatrical release:
