Mute http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1464763/
This is a mixed bag of good and sometimes disturbing moments, lost in a sea of mediocracy.
I enjoyed Moon but director Duncan Jones' style doesn't
suit this kind of movie.

Worth a watch but lower your expectations imo.

I like stories about the OK Corral; the best one I've seen was a TV docu-drama done in the style of Peter Watkins and took all its story elements from actual eyewitnesses. I can't find any record of it online, but it may have been called Street Fight at the OK Corral. (There was a "You Are There" episode about it in the mid-fifties, but it wasn't as gruesome as the one I'm thinking of.)
Really a great movie. I love this scene:

My brother watched this earlier today. His review:

"The first twenty minutes, I was like GD, this is going in my top ten. Then for the next two hours, I was like I don't know what you've done with the movie I was watching, but..."

I finally got a chance to watch this last week and I must say that I found it to be disappointing after reading all the comments in this thread raving about it last year. Maybe I was just tired as it was the 4th film I watched in the middle of a 17-hour transpacific flight from San Francisco to Singapore.

The bad guy in that movie is just so good. Very underappreciated western.

I'm not a big John Wayne fan, but how could anyone possibly hate The Quiet Man? I've watched it at least 50 times, and could easily watch it 50 more without getting tired of it in the least.

I agree with everything except the rating. It's at least a 9 in my book.

9/10 = potential classic
10/10 = certified classic

Pretty rare I give anything > 8 after one viewing

Annihilation was interesting...will have more to say later

Just watched Robert Bresson's A Man Escaped. That is one weird-ass prison break movie.

One of Bresson's best. Of course, it's about faith and trust, but not faith in the religious sense, rather the simple faith and trust we place in fellow human beings if we have enough courage to do so. A textbook example of how to use sound.

Yes: skip movie

I've got a great superhero movie for you: The Incredibles.

I dare you to find fault with that one!

Btw, I've seen the first two episodes of Devilman Crybaby and it was exactly as you described it, although I admit I couldn't really follow exactly what was going on.

I'd forgotten about that one. I did enjoy it. Also the one where the Fresh Prince plays a wino. So that's two right off the top of the bat...

Instead of justifying movie that rely on the crescendo battle... we should TRY and name movies that DO NOT rely on the formalised pattern.

Nothing comes to mind.

Exorcist stairs.

Newport, RI has the 40 steps, and I wish it had one fewer.
