I personally didn't find it to be very scary at all and was left feeling like the whole movie had been toned down in order to cater for a wider audience eg: Kids. I guess I was left feeling like it was a missed opportunity and overall could have been a lot better than it was.

I'm not saying it's a bad movie, it's definitely 'watchable'; it's just not a memorable one for me that, I would highly recommend to people.
Oh yea, I was actually getting mad earlier in the movie because I was thinking kids would be watching, then I thought oh no it's an adult movie, but yea obv kids will be watching.

The reason this aggravated me was because the crowd-favorite nerd kid from Moonrise Kingdom (I think) is ****ing toxic nerd trash. He keeps making sexist comments and it's "funny" because he's a kid. This will influence kids irl and it's bad.

As for "scares", it's subjective of course. Some scenes with the clown "scared" me more than most traditional horror movies do (which is not at all).

I also felt that the director was superb at creating a sense of spaces, at least some of the time. I don't quite know how to describe this, but It's lair is etched pretty firmly in my mind now as a "place" that I have a strong sense of physically. The tunnels maybe not so much.

Lucky (2017) - I liked. Do you want to see Harry Dean Stanton and David Lynch acting together yes or no?

Decent meditation on aging and dying - not overly sentimental, not overly trite, not overly "cutesy old person movie", though it is all of these things a little bit.

The Straight Story - Lynch does sad old person dying movie, just as well as he can do anything else.

The Trial (Orson Welles, 1962) - saw this a month or two ago now and don't think I wrote anything. Enthusiastic recommendation. It's easily Welles's second best (at least) that I'm aware of and I'm puzzled as to why The Magnificent Ambersons gets talked about a lot but this doesn't.

It's Lynchian as hell, the wonderful dream logic Lynch. Unfortunately I've forgotten what more I wanted to say about it, so will check it out again in the coming years.

Should be high on your list to see if you haven't, as a top 3 film from one of cinema's recognized masters.

Saw Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri. It's been described as a black comedy, but I'm not sure that's quite right. Well worth seeing, especially for Sam Rockwell's performance as a rascist cop who learns to be a "detective" through love.

Atomic Blonde was interesting and fun with some great action, but with a completely incomprehensible plot.

You got the 'incomprehensible plot' part right. I was still trying to figure it all out long after having finished watching it and in the end gave up.

Yeah, it had lots of action and was entertaining to a degree but, even then a lot of the action scenes we're poorly executed and often far beyond belief.

Overall, it was pretty average IMO...

Thor Ragnarok

Really fun movie. Would've enjoyed it more if my significant other didn't want to see it at a brand new Studio Movie Grille. The service was terrible, so there were a lot more annoyances than one would normally have when a server is walking in front of you during a movie.

My son is a new Zeppelin fan because of Immigrant Song, which was used spectacularly. Some of the images from the fight scenes were just tremendous, particularly the epic one of Thor with that music in the climactic battle.

The director, Taika Waititi, as Korg was also great.

hahaha i thought that was Bret from flight of the conchords voicing korg, but yeah i guess not

Wind River was fantastic. One of my favorites of the year. The final scene was equal parts heartbreak and perfection.

I bailed out on seeing Orient Express. I was hyped for Agatha Christie on the big screen, but the reviews are all just terrible.

Ragnarok was like someone decided to make a movie out of a 70's airbrushed minivan, and I mean that in the best way.

Three Billboards

Unforgiven: Played by Ebbing, Missouri.

Gene Hackman: Played by pancreatic cancer.

Clint Eastwood: Played by Deputy Sam Rockwell.

Woody Harrelson: Played by Frances McDormand.

Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Molotov: as himself.

Nobody cares about: Dentists.

Driving off to: My own private Idaho.

Evil, and its consort, banality, run amok in a most entertaining manner. Check it out.

I actually thought it was Rhys Darby at first (Murray from FotC). Both he and Waititi are New Zealanders, so I guess I wasn't too far off.

Thor- Fantastic. One of my favorite super hero movies outside the Nolan trilogy and Iron Man. The humor/dialogue was great. The 2 hour run time was perfect. Really was a great change of pace from the copy/paste formula I feel like most super hero movies have been using.

Ladybird- Lived up to the hype. I loved how authentic the movie felt. It wasn't some cliche high school/coming of age film. The characters and experiences seemed real. The relationship between the mother and daughter was definitely on point.

I liked Lady Bird a lot, although it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. The pacing felt a little off, like it was jumping from point to point a lot. I wish it could have slowed down in certain spots to let the emotions really sink in. It does the important things really well though, especially in capturing Lady Birds relationship with her mother. Definitely a strong recommend for anyone who likes this genre of suburban coming of age stories.

I wish Thor Ragnarok hadn't been a Marvel movie. There's a great bat**** insane sci-fi movie, but it's like every few minutes some producers intern ran on set with a lame Whedon-y gag or one-liner to shoehorn that just kills the tone.

Got better for me as time went on and I watched it more. Should be getting the chance to see it in 35mm early next year.

I love how in John Wick 2 that when the open contract goes out on Wick, every hitman in the world seems to be within 50 yards of him.

Night of the Iguana A priest fornicates, yells at his congregation, gets defrocked, gets a job with a tourist agency, makes out with an underage girl, hijacks the tour bus, kidnaps a bunch of church ladies and takes them to a remote hotel, flirts with the newly widowed hotel owner, gets drunk, flirts with a older virgin, tries to swim to China, gets tied up in a hammock, and listens to an old man recite a poem right before he dies.

I actually enjoyed this. It is a Tennessee Williams play so if that doesn't float your boat, you won't like it. A bit of overacting but not horrible. There was a really stupid fight scene set to music but it was balanced out by the hilariousness of the two guys dancing around with maracas. Burton was OK, Kerr was good, Ava Gardner was fantastic.

I couldn't help but think that Williams was trying to explain the meaning of life to me but I just didn't get it.
