Also: "red wire or blue wire?". That specifically has probably been laid to rest by now but the concept is still well alive.

Obviously criminals never learn to mix it up, and why do the police send the new guy?

They've evolved to a more artistic version of the classic "we're gonna do a montage! **** yeah!" 80's style, but you still see them in the cookie cutter flicks that get pushed out the door with a couple famous names slapped on.

Painting Americans and America in a positive light. There are countless films where a group of dumb Americans save the planet because, although Americans are dumb, we have a little something called gumption and swagger to get the job done. Other countries may be more qualified "on papaer" but we've got the smoke and mirrors to make it all work here in America.

Also things like Rocky IV when Rocky beating Drago, and by the end of the film the "evil Russians" are all cheering Rocky, the gritty American hero. Only an AMERICAN can get mesmerize an entire culture, or save the world.

Cars in action movies never run out of gas or malfunction.
Cars in road movies/horror movies always run out of gas or malfunction.

Guns always make random clicking noises when aimed at someone. A room full of guns aiming at someone can be more deafening than the actual shots fired.

There is a huge explosion on the road that is powerful enough to flip semis and toss them 300 feet, but the motor-cycles drive through unscathed.

I keep hoping so. But they had one several (including the wardrobe transformation scene) in Devil Wears Prada, which is recent enough.

the jeff goldblum jurrassic park character -he's a scientific genius but he wears leather! Oh no how can this be so. He's so unorthodox!

The bad guy/cooperation is always willing to double the offer. There is never any rational economic calculation going on, this is apparantly how they made it to the top.

LOL but you have to take into consideration that regardless how deep in the jungle you are or in what part of the world you meet 1-3 science geeks, one is always an "unbelievable pretty, yet down to earth with a great sense of humour" girl.

i haven't seen this in a while:

car won't start at the worst possible moment. hero shouts "COME ON START!" or "DON'T START...I MEAN START START" or something else like that crap, then right at the last moment BAM car fires up. last time i remember seeing that was gone in 60 seconds with nicolas cage

That's not a cliche, that's the exact difference between those types of movies. The people making the movie have no idea what's going to happen until that precise moment when the actor turns the key. If the car starts, then they know they're making an action movie. If it doesn't, then it's a horror movie.

ie: Schwarzenegger in True Lies. Dude can basically do whatever he wants but he can't get his 14 year old daughter to not steal cash out of his suit or not go for a ride with an older motorcycle driver. SHES JUST TOOO MUCH FOR HIM LOLZ!!!

A match, a fight, a whatever canīt be won unless you are behind. You have to be close to finished before you can retaliate and win any of these.
