Between this and Mandy it's like Nic Cage is having some kind of self-aware Renaissance where he gives zero ****s, cranks the Nic Cage dial up to 11 and it's magical and so much fun to watch and I am 100% here for it.

I wasn't overtly keen on Beyond the Black Rainbow (2010) (although I only watched once & mean to revisit to give another chance) but I did enjoy Mandy So I'll probably bump Rainbow up on my revisit list & check out sooner rather than later.
Saw it in the theater and it is the third in the series. The first I have seen and it is spooky and has plenty of intense scares. Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren have just wrapped up a case involving a demonic doll, Annabelle. They decide to bring the doll to their room of haunted, cursed objects and lock it away.
Happy Death Day is fun even though it's a pretty blatant copy of Groundhog Day. I would consider it a comedy/horror rather than straight up horror though.
I watched the first few min of Ouija and was immediately bored and turned it off.
I watched Tales from the Lodge last night. Its kind of a comedy/horror/anthology mashup that felt reasonably original. It was fun with a few "scary" spots.
It was better than I thought it would be and would have been better if I had subtitles as it is a UK film and some of the dialogue was hard to make out.
6.5/10 and 7/10 if I had subtitles.
Color Out of Space (2019)
Director Richard Stanley ( Hardware, Dust Devil) returns after a 20+ year hiatus with a HP Lovecraft adaptation and Nicolas Cage to boot who once again is in patented Cage mode as he deals with a meteor which crashes on his farm. I liked this overall & am delighted to see Stanley return, but it could have been something truly special. Still worth seeing though
I See You (2019)
Really good horror-thriller with Helen Hunt noticing strange occurrences at her home while her detective husband investigates a child kidnapping which may be linked to a spate of serial murders. Well recommended, some very minor flaws aside.
Here Comes Hell (2019)
Amusing & entertaining 1930s set and stylized horror in which a seance held by a bunch of English toffs goes seriously wrong.
Will post two more mini reviews later when I get the time

I was like CM punk going Home Improvement on a Haunted House
NAH
but then I read enough reviews to convince me that it was worth a shot.
I will say that the first 2/3 were pretty solid, a slowish building mystery with some scares and solid practical effects. CM Punk didnt suck as much as he did doing MMA but his acting didnt spoil it TOO much for me, he makes some odd facial expressions. I liked his German Shepard co-star.
The last 30 minutes are kinda iffy as the mystery is explained and the climax is reached.
If the last 30 minutes could have been as good as the first hour it would be a 6.5 but gets demoted to 5.5 when all is said and done.
