Gf and her friends had made some food for me when I came home from the gym

I celebrated it by sabering some sparkling alcohol

Eggs and bacon. GF: "you dont have enough bacon in your fridge, here is a nice 400g pack" :-)

We visited her parents sunday, 10 lambs in the barn, I expect to get some lamb at some point :-)

Wallace: that pork looks perfect. If the devil were to come to me with that, my soul is GONE down the road and forgotten all about.

Cookie: It looks like you're enjoying your existence. Ordinary day and people are cooking for you, you're drinking champagne, AND you're getting the gift of bacon?!

I believe it is possible the devil has already visited your home.

ive had an idea for springrolls that might go good amber...

carrots, cucumber, carmalized apples (im thinking maybe some curry and brown sugar), wilted red cabbage, shallots, garlic, spinach, and some goat cheese....maybe even some tofu (yuk) or egg if you want some protien in it.

wrap all that up in some springroll wrappers, quickly fry them in some oil for color and crunch and finish in the oven. yum yum...

let me know if that sounds good and i'll throw a recipe together for you.

Excellent. I would add some sprouts, and I would think that if you use goat cheese, you definitely don't need tofu or egg.

I love tofu, though, so I might be tempted to use the tofu instead of the goat cheese.

Hoisin or peanut/sesame dipping sauce would work fine I bet, assuming you mean LIGHT frying.

If heavier frying, then I guess it's a sweet/sour/spicy sauce.

Either way, I wouldn't mind seeing a recipe.

Sounds very good, I think the peanut sauce and maybe some kind of Thai Chili dipping sauce may go well too? Would like to see the recipe.

I am probably going to bring more than one thing, so I would certainly appreciate other ideas. I most likely will bring 2 or 3 things.

Thanks!

Also, will probably go with egg or tofu instead of the goat cheese.

speaking of goat cheese... (i'll write up a recipe for those spring rolls later today guys...i'll include some variations on the protien)

...dinner was good last night

Stuffed chicken breasts (spinach, goatcheese, cream cheese, parmesean cheese, s&p)
with fingerling taters and mushrooms with a white wine pan sauce

the stuffed chicken was awesome... usually when i stuff chicken i'll just cook it on the stovetop and it turns out meh... but this time i just lightly seared the bottom and roasted it skinside up in a 450 deg. oven...it came out juicy and the skin was crispy.

So now I will go and Google French restaurants in Sarasota, and I will take my woman out for some confit.

Thanks.

Tonight I am making Spaghetti All' Amatriciana - Tomato Sauce with Pancetta and Chili Pepper.

I love this sauce, and if someone is looking for a simple, delicious pasta sauce that will impress your friends and win you women, this is it.

In a big pan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil. When hot, add 6 oz of diced pancetta or *Bacon* and saute til golden brown. Add 1 chopped onion. Saute til tender. Add 3 minced garlic cloves and a pinch of crushed chili pepper flakes. About 20 seconds later, dump in a 28 oz can of pureed tomatoes. Add about 1/2 teaspoon each of salt and fresh pepper. Simmer, uncovered, for about 15 min. Sauce should thicken a bit, and the flavors will blend nice. Stir in 1/2 cup grated pecorino romano cheese (I love this cheese). Add salt and pepper to taste. Put on your favorite pasta, great with spaghetti, fettuccine, linguine, but made for bucatini.

I could post a pic, but really it just looks like spaghetti with a red sauce that has bacon and onion in it.

All seems so obvious that I should have 'invented' this myself... but I haven't. Never tried it but can see it becoming a staple - thanks.

Also, reminds me of a funny story - I have two vegetarian friends who went for lunch together, and both ordered the same pasta dish..... not knowing that 'pancetta' isn't a vegetable.

I wasn't there, unfortunately. They were there with a third friend, who actually speaks Italian, and he didn't say anything... so either he was just completely oblivious or he thought it would be funny.

Am off to Paris tomorrow. Before I go, any suggestions for foodstuffs I should bring back with me that are harder to find/much more expensive in England....?

I've been planning to do this ever since I moved to London - it's only a train ride away after all.

I would also consider some created items such as Pierre Herme/Laduree Macarons.

Another spicy sausage and basil pizza. Cut up the mozzarella this time instead of shredding it. I think it looks nicer.
