BTW, I hate "Imagine," the song. But not Lennon. You can always say some **** here, but do so in a way that courteous. Also, please let the profanity filter do its job. No circumventing please.

Lennon? I've always been ambivalent about him, but have never heard him called "appalling." What did he do?

But there was a New Yorker that imo is one of the GOAT, Lou Reed.

And eek around here it appears, but I also have Lennon as one of the GOAT.

I recognize Lennon's genius for his Beatles' work but consider myself more of a #TeamPaul type I suppose. Can't ****ing stand Imagine, ugh! Not much use for Yoko either.

Ray Davies and the Kinks brotherhood were better and more longer lived, so were The Who. Lennon and the Beatles became warped by their and the media’s owe hype and excess.. Same for the Monkees during the same timeframe . Still all the above are just rock and roll bands. Just a A small blot and festering boil on the ass of history.

Ching chong John. Jung hold on, it's gonna be all right.

He prolly saved more lives with that one little melodic passage than we may ever know.

He wasn't a particularly pleasant person, but I can get over that. What I can't get past is that he was a wife beater who abandoned his son. After the physical and emotional abuse, he refused to pay any child support.

"Imagine" living in peace, as long as it isn't your wife? Imagine having no money. It appears his son and ex-wife got a nice taste of that too.

To be clear, I certainly don't think what happened to Lennon was justified on any level.

That was one of those Catcher in the Rye killers, right?

All Beatle related hate should be focused squarely on Yoko.

He who is without sin, cast the first stone

If it was. . ... he who is without talent, cast aspersions on the very best ever in the game, I'd allow that.

Lol child abuse

You are one aggrieved mofo

I am without sin.

****ing Yoko.

I started typing a list of bands better than the Beatles and stopped because there are too many.
Not songwriters, mind, bands.

This isn't how to the world works...

I mean... everyone has their lines. Despite having many major bands cover his music, no one is rushing out to buy The Manson Family tapes.

or...

Some people probably don't give a **** and love lostprofits, however, their sales hit a concrete wall, the singer went to prison, and the group is totally done. Seems that a lot of people draw the line at raping babies, but "he who's never sinned...", right?

Speaking of Manson, one of my friends outright refuses to listen to Nine Inch Nails because Reznor bought the Tate house and lived there while recording The Downward Spiral. This is why so much of that album features pigs.

In any case, that crossed the line for him.

For me, beating your wife and abandoning your children is unthinkable, and yes, I judge very harshly against anyone that deliberately does so while they have the means to do and know better.

Manson sung about murder and hatred, so at least he was being honest. Lennon is being dishonest with "Imagine."

This initially went over my head, but then I realized this my be a comment on my apparent lack of talent. If so, I have no idea why you'd think this would faze me at all.

This is getting bigger than a lounge low content thread. I would think a thread about The Beatles in all there capacities should be started. So I started The Beatles thread.

At least you didn't start with "Imagine."

I'm having trouble getting going lately. Just saying.

From the BBC about telescopes picking up radio signals from a galaxy far away:

"There are a number of theories about what could be causing them.

They include a neutron star with a very strong magnetic field that is spinning very rapidly, two neutron stars merging together, and, among a minority of observers, some form of alien spaceship."

A minority of how many, I wonder.

I'm sure they kept asking until one scientist said "sure... anything is possible."

I fully suspect Zeno is an undercover UFO sleuth.

So, what do you think of this toxic masculinity stuff? I would attempt to say I've rarely engaged in the sorts of behaviors described as toxic, but . . . .
01-15-2019 , 07:59 PM
I'm very manly in an especially vital and healthy way.
