I consider Miro mostly a hack and a charlatan painter (he produce some stuff worthy of hanging in the bathroom) that cashed in on a phase and duped the pretentious art crowd. Not difficult to do. Ray Zee could even do it.

Most of Miro is just laughable acres of coloring that go nowhere and mean even less.

Jackson Pollock was a hundred times better. And he was drunk most of the time when globing the paint on the canvas.

sounds like you can do better. maybe just start out asking for a million a painting and see how it goes.

Zeno, please share your thoughts on Mark Rothko.

i'll hang up and listen.

`while zeno is napping with his cat ill share my thoughts. putting two or three or no color squares on a sheet of canvas is not valuable art. for some reason art isnt about beauty or skill its about notoriety.
the guy killed himself so that also makes him more desirable i guess.
for someone not knowing all his works would be passed by at a rummage sale. yet his crap goes for tens of millions.

03-18-2019 , 08:43 PM

03-18-2019 , 08:53 PM

Zeno the art critic. I took him to see a pretty famous Picasso in NYC. Harry Picasso.

kioshk called it stupid that people glue their puzzle to a board and hang it on the wall. If I had the patience to put together 3 1000pc monochrome puzzles, I'd glue them on a board and hang that "art" because screw that, I used in an hour on each piece I placed.

I’m not much for abstract stuff. I don’t even really care for symbolism. My ex was a pollock wannabe. “Looks good honey.”

I much prefer art that takes my mind to new places, literally, such as Van Gogh or cezanne. I’ve seen the Mona Lisa, michaelangelos David, Madonna of the rocks, and the golden ballroom at Versailles, but nothing brings me somewhere the way cezannes landscapes do. Feel the wind and the sun on your skin.

Klee is kooler than de Kooning and Kandinsky.

For all us art critics; something to remember -

Why have art teachers, then?

To teach art appreciation or to teach art (however defined)?

Anyway, why have art teachers - because it makes some people feel good and emotionally satisfied that students are receiving a supposed well rounded education (for either appreciation of art or to teach the plebeians how to "do" art). This is mostly bosh as you well know.

Art is icing. Most just want (or need) the cake.

P.S. But you know, that's just like, my opinion man.
