It snowed in Los Angeles.

Snow.

Los Angeles.

Two words I never thought I'd see in the same sentence.

Are we allowed to complain about the winter now?

It snowed quite a bit in Las Vegas...heck, it's snowing right now

I was in LV last week but thankfully it didn't snow. Part of my reason for going was to get away from winter

High tea is totally in her wheelhouse, but she mercifully hasn't dragged me to one. Perhaps it's not something to be dreaded?
I'm guessing back again.

The worlds collide again because a few days prior to you posting this I was in Penang having High Tea at the Eastern and Oriental.

Would high tea entail some reefer madness? Either way count me in. We could also invite Mat and Kiera.

What's the difference between a surfeit and a surplus?

I used to joke that while most people complain about a bad hair day, my good hair days are so rare that I feel the need to complain about to everyone that would give me 3 minutes.

"Oh, wow, Dave, what did you do to your hair? It looks nice today."

Ugh... really? Do you have any idea how miserable I am now?

For the first time in 20 years, I'm trying to wear glasses. When I put them on... oh, hell no. My vision is completely ruined. I took them off and the doctor checked the prescription. It was correct.

The doctor told me that I should probably wear them only at night to get used to them. I thought maybe 1 or 2 hours, at most. I can't even keep these things on for 20 minutes before I get massive vertigo. It's hard to even reach out and grab a cup without deliberately ensuring I don't tip it over. Walking up and down stairs is a lot of fun...

Welcome to my world. Good news, the brain is remarkably adaptable. I went from right eye dominant to left eye dominant overnight (cornea surgery) and adapted within a few weeks. Wear those glasses as much as you can stand.

After a few days, it's a little better. I guess I have to accept that the edges are going to be bent a little, but that's optics, right?

Doc says it'll take about 2 weeks to get used to them. I don't think I'll ever wear them to work anything like that. They're supposed to give my eyes a rest from wearing contacts. My eyes are definitely not being rested yet.

Just thought I'd give a shout out:

Yesterday was my granddaughter's fourth birthday. My other granddaughter turned nine on January 22nd. Last night I went out with my son, daughter, and two granddaughters. It seemed almost like 32 years ago when the kids were 6 and 4.

Tomorrow would have been my wife's 64th birthday. I still think of her daily and regret she never got to see the birth of her grandchildren or her daughter's wedding.

So tomorrow I will visit the cemetery and think of all Mary Ellen gave to me and try to smile a little.
02-23-2019 , 06:05 PM
can't imagine, John. Good thoughts your way.
02-23-2019 , 06:53 PM
Smile a great deal John. She deserves all you have to give.
02-23-2019 , 07:14 PM
Lucky you John hanging with your family.

I hope you can smile more than a little.

It is a weird Catch 22 when someone close to you is gone and you think of them. Both my parents have gone in the last five years and I often want to think of the good and fun times but then it tends to make me sad. I am getting better at remembering those good times without having the sadness
creep in.
