There are some nice goat's cheeses, but Rocamadour isn't one of them.

is it too early to take a collection for zeno. we all know he isnt right and needs some kind of guidance. i thought john would give it to him as they seem to have hit it off on their visit together. but alas no it didnt happen.
he hasnt even posted pics in this thread of his last stupid trip which he always does. although mostly pics of himself.

If you run into Zeno, maybe you could front him the bus fare home...

I didn't go, my mother and sister went and brought some back.

It's slightly amazing to have something of that quality.

I had a gig a few days ago. I way over-practiced for it because I thought I had a gig on Friday as well. This was an initial show for a promoter, so I wanted to do well.

I get to the self-described "dive bar" and it definitely delivered on that promise. Nice place with a large stage. I also see monitors and think "hooray! I'll be able to hear myself play for once."

Sound guy asks me what I would like for sound and I say the same thing to him I say to everyone: if it sounds good to you, it sounds good to me.

I get on stage and apparently the monitors aren't working. No biggie, that's how it always goes down, so I get piece one under way, finish with a flourish and.... silence. Not even crickets.

Okay, on to the next piece. Silence again. And that was how the next 15 minutes went.

In the middle of a difficult part of music, a woman walks up to stage and says something, I'm sort of busy now, but hey, nothing unusual here. I ask her to repeat herself and she asks if I do requests.

No... I don't requests.

Along comes my final minute and I'm now sitting on stage in silence for 30 seconds. I look out into the crowd of (is there still 15 hear?) and silence. I wave to the sound guy and say it's time for me to get off stage.

Silence.

I play another tune, then I play an improv piece that isn't done. That plan works and the sound guy says "I think you're done."

"Yes I am!"

I get off stage. No one talks to me, and some old guy fell asleep.

Overall, a resounding success!

(The promoter said he really enjoyed my set, so I didn't lose the second booking he gave me)

The fog comes
on little cat feet.

It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
And then moves on

He had a great Chicago poem too that I still quote a lot. Hog butcher for the world! I have seen your painted women etc., luring the farm boys and whatnot. Those poor naive farm boys won't know what hit em.

The Way through the Woods

THEY shut the road through the woods
Seventy years ago.
Weather and rain have undone it again,
And now you would never know
There was once a road through the woods
Before they planted the trees.
It is underneath the coppice and heath,
And the thin anemones.
Only the keeper sees
That, where the ring-dove broods,
And the badgers roll at ease,
There was once a road through the woods.

Yet, if you enter the woods
Of a summer evening late,
When the night-air cools on the trout-ringed pools
Where the otter whistles his mate,
(They fear not men in the woods,
Because they see so few.)
You will hear the beat of a horse's feet,
And the swish of a skirt in the dew,
Steadily cantering through
The misty solitudes,
As though they perfectly knew
The old lost road through the woods.
But there is no road through the woods.

I don't think I've shared any music in a while. The band was called "Better than the Beatles" by none other than Frank Zappa. Kurt Cobain had their album among his top 10 favorites.

Welcome to magic, all. This trio is awesome.

John tried; that he supposedly failed is no shame or blame on him. (I hope this is a grammatically correct sentence. If not; so be it.)

Before I left Catania, with honor and respect; I was paraded through the streets of the city in remembrance of my grand visit and the great remorse at my leaving. The turnout was stupendous even though it rained – as you would expect for Saint Zeno.
