The Lounge Winter LC Thread: Now I can Hibernate The Lounge Winter LC Thread: Now I can Hibernate

I'll take this time to reflect on the screwy LA winter of 2018-2019.

It is the coldest winter since 1962. I was tempted to buy a windbreaker this year, but I decided to power through and wear two layers of thermals instead of one.

TWO lightening storms. This just never happens.

Snow... snow?

Hail storm. That was on the same day as a lightening storm. Absolute insanity.

Tons of rain. The drought is officially over, after 7 years.

While it was exciting to have days that aren't 70 and sunny, this winter sort of sucked.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

One year ago today John and I were in New York City for St. Patrick's Day. It was a great, beautiful, and wonderful day full of fun. Good memories.

Zeno and I met two couples from Galway, took photos of a bunch of women posing with NYC cops, posed ourselves with the same women (should have gotten one to send photo), stopped by St. Patrick's Cathedral during mass, and spent the night drinking in Cuban bar and restaurant. Not bad for Lounge old-timers.

sounds exciting. did you also go to central park and watch the old men play chess.

besides i dont like irish people. they drink too much and want to fight. plus all that stupid dress up green crap.

Typically, you'd go to Washington Square for that.

Three years ago, I spent St. Patrick's Day at The Fling, my favorite dive bar, in Santa Ana. This year I'm doing ****ing laundry.

i dont know anymore as i havent been in nyc in 50 years and dont plan on a trip either. i am done with the northeast for good. although maybe a fall trip to maine driving up from bosten might be in the works .

laundry can be lots of fun. enjoy your day.

so about 50 years ago there was this bar in nyc called rose of kelarney or something like that. it had great bar pool action. lines of quarters on the table and people all played for 10 or 20 bucks a game. you could stay for hours before you lost one and then leave as the wait was long to get back on. always good for a few hundred or so.
then after a while your welcome wears out like anything else. so i was there with this tall guy we called stacks. he didnt look tough but was. lucky for me this day or unlucky we had won a ton and started getting plenty of steam. this giant irish guy kinda blocked our way out and gave the message. i didnt think it would come to blows but my buddy in one instant grabbed the guy and picked him up and threw him through the front window of the joint. exit stage left said snagglepuss and off we went never to return of course.

It's a lovely drive taking Rt. 1 once you hit Maine. I've done it a couple time to Bar Harbor area.

That's a mighty find story there, Ray Zee.

Last night, I had a show, which means I started drinking at 5pm. I get on stage, do my thing for 40 minutes, then ask how much time I have left. I have 8 minutes to go. I turn off the guitar and tune up. There wasn't very good monitoring so I didn't notice that I was playing with volume. No one noticed that I wasn't making any noise for almost 2 minutes.

Afterwards, I went to some noise show. My buddy was interested in going so he invited me along. He asked me if I was familiar with this genre of music. He was intrigued by whatever that could possibly mean.

Well, dude... it's exactly what the genre sounds like.

The "bar" was just a gutted downtown apartment, up a tall flight of stairs. There was no signage and the bar wasn't near any life. Somehow, there was a good 100 people there, just shaking their heads to whatever the blip and static machines were making. The "music" was obnoxiously loud. I went outside and it still sounded too loud to be around. My earplugs weren't strong enough to protect my ears.

I'm not going out today. St Patrick's Day in LA is a non-event.

i went up to maine a bunch of times fishing in the 60's.

whats the purpose of doing a jigsaw puzzle. it isnt a puzzle at all. you have a finished picture of the end result and you just put the pieces together like a zombie.

what the hell is undetitle anyway. and why would anyone in their right mind use the word to describe anything. Oh i see it was ..rr that did it to me.

ray, don't **** with me. lol lol

And the request has been done so get over it. ha ha

This was pretty much my attitude toward jigsaws my entire life, up to about 2 years ago. I still laugh at people who glue them together and save them, hang them on their wall or whatever. Like it's art they created. The ****ing picture is already right there on the box, hang that up too maybe! I break mine up the day after they're done. I can't really justify my interest in putting them together, but it's a helluva lot of fun and I learn a lot in the process. Also it keeps me out of trouble, off the mean streets and out of the shady pool halls. Like I'm putting together a copy of Joan Miro's painting The Tilled Field right now, evidently he was some bigshot artiste.
03-18-2019 , 07:21 AM
miro had some neat stuff,
03-18-2019 , 08:09 AM
Miro did have some good paintings, and I think The Tilled Field is a mighty fine choice. Next, you should put Blue I, II, III together:

I would definitely glue them on a board and hang them on my wall.
03-18-2019 , 01:29 PM
his stuff sells for 10 million and up. so i woulnt be in a hurry to buy those three paintings to put on your wall dave.
