So update on the house hunt:
GF and I had "bought" a house we loved, but unfortunately, we had to walk away from it because there was too many things wrong with it that would cost a lot of money, like, $30k+ or more, and the sellers weren't willing to fix them.
But we found another house...and we love it....mid-70s, retro and cool, in a mid-Vegas part of town, residential but slightly upscale, with other vintage/retro houses that had been renovated. And less than 15 minutes from UNLV, where we both teach.
3BR, 2BA, 1850 sq. ft., two living rooms, a covered breezeway separating a two car garage, and just a general coolness throughout.
We're going to put privacy hedges up, maybe cover the 2nd driveway, but other than that, the place is pristine. It's only owner in 45 years was this 97 year old woman who recently died. The place is
pristine. Like a time bubble from 1976. It's our style and right up our alley. Moving very soon.
Assuming it's not teeming with asbestos and needs the plumbing completely replaced, of course.
