Terrible news of Norte Dame cathedral burning in Paris. The spire has collapsed. I visited
There about 3 years ago.

i was there myself along time ago. too bad it was a work of art in itself.
the talk is it was arson. and another church got it recently in paris.
i guess god wasnt around to stop it.

Someone contacted me to do a gig and I'm just... no, I don't want to do shows without a singer anymore. It's really boring.

At least I have the excuse of me moving to use for right now. I'll have to come up with some new ones in a few weeks.

I'm not sure if this is something I should be complaining about. I know a lot of people who never can land a gig without doing pay-to-play. I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, but I want to share my little luck with some lucky singer. It's crazy how that's not even possible.

Watching Parisians encircling the burning Notre Dame, holding hands, singing in unison, just about made me burst into tears. I've been in Paris many times and was always in awe at this grand structure, either walking inside or just taking a boat past it.

It IS Paris, it IS France.

The good news is that they are claiming the cathedral is still structurally sound, the two towers have been saved, and that they will rebuild.

It seems crazy to me, too. Is it hard to find them, or is it just hard to get them interested in gigs?

Woah, the photos of that fire are wild. Sheesh.

I haven't really figured it out yet. I think it comes from the general frustration that so many people have wasted so many other people's time out here, so I do get a lot of personal attacks against me. Some of it is downright vicious.

One thing that I do run across is this puffery: "Oh, I have this band and we are working hard on our own project." You look them up and you see they have a few posts about a song "coming soon." These posts are 2 years old and then there is nothing at all.

IDK, I do my best to undersell myself. I don't want to give off the impression that I'm guaranteeing a bunch of shows and not be able to deliver on that promise. I have "ins," but I don't want to talk about it. Either you like my stuff or you don't. So many people have this long list of so-called connections, and really, what's it worth if you know the producer of some name act and they aren't using your voice?

Then again, maybe people just don't like my music. Hell, I've struggled to pay singers, which probably says all that needs to be said (that's a whole other can of worms I won't get into).

I feel irritated with work today. Seems there has been a communication break-down with me an others. I just ask "what do you want?" and I get "well, you should go through with someone else to figure it out."

Then I go ask "someone else" and show him the changes I wanted to make. He sees no issues. He then get's back to me and I'm shown an old version of things which I fixed within 10 minutes of learning about it... it's not relevant anymore.

It's scary. I'm getting a new place and I'm having a really rough patch at work. Seems I can't get anything done correctly over the past 2 weeks.

springtime and the two bald eagles that have been for a few years now are in the nest a few hundred yards or so down along the river below my house. i get to look at them in the spotting scope until just as the babies are born the foliage gets too green and hides the nest.

You all need to get out of your ruts and prowl about this Friday and go nuts.

That's the best thing anyone has said today Zeno.

Let's get ______ and throw stuff at ______.

a mad libs recipe for fun.

I've been watching multiple game 7s and overtime hockey. My heart can't take more.
04-26-2019 , 04:51 PM
I really need to go nuts. But instead I'm watching my granddaughter watching TV.
04-26-2019 , 07:18 PM
Went out with daughter and granddaughter. Glass of wine helped. Will go nuts tomorrow. As much as is possible for me.

Tomorrow is the big move-in day, which is just renting a van and taking over a few items. Some world I live in.

The rest is in the mail, which includes a french press, coffee grinder, plates, chair, couch, stools, and internet router.

I'm so done with shopping for a while. Apartment hunting, buying furniture, buying plates, and so on is enough to drive anyone up a wall.

I started with a goal of having $X left over when all was said and done. I did better than I originally planned. The only thing left to buy is a trash can and other small items like that, so I'm doing okay.

*

So... I'm a little off my own head right now, drinking and not packing. I seek The Wisdom from The Lounge on this one.

My place is 750sq ft, and while that's plenty for a simple guy like me, I'm not happy about the idea of them adding a washer / dryer unit to the place. There is one area that is pretty much dead area and where that stuff could fit. I knew they were doing this installation before I moved in.

The construction crew put tape down on the floor to indicate where they want to put the stuff. Spot 1 is reasonable... and you can see where this is going.

Spot 2 is just... weird. It's in front of the closet, next to the shower, and possibly taking up a large section of the floor. When I move in, I can't put anything in these two spots, and honestly, in a single like this, there is no good spot. I wrote an email apologizing for being a complainer, and they said they'd show me what another completed room looks like.

I'm wondering if it's possible to tell them that I'm not too happy about having a washer on one end of the apartment and a dryer on the other end. I also don't like the idea of losing access to a closet. I just don't know how to discuss these concerns with them and what options are reasonable here.
04-27-2019 , 04:25 AM
you need one, so find a spot if you dont like their's. simple. but washer needs water hookup and dryer needs vented so options can be very limited.
750 feet is small space to live in. but cities are cramped to start. i have big houses. even my vacation place is 4500 sq feet.
04-27-2019 , 08:45 AM
I solved a serious space crunch with an all in one washer and dryer. Takes longer to dry but it's very nice. Or see if you can get a stacked unit.
04-27-2019 , 12:26 PM
My ideal house would be 900 square feet. Plus detached 3-car garage and workshop. And 1200 square feet patio/deck/porch.
04-27-2019 , 01:02 PM
that size works fine until you acquire 50 years of junk and vehicles and need a place to put them. and i need over half that amount just for my pool table area.
