I was thinking deeply about friendship tonight, saw my daughter's graduation too, and thought that if i really want to hear words of wisdom about friendship, they could be found in The Lounge.

So I searched the forum for the word friendship and it was contained in many many threads!

I read several and fell in love with John's Cole's response to daveT

My sentimentality is obviously weird but whatev. lol.

Dave,

It's okay to date somebody. Really.

"Here's my story.

A friend and colleague has been making me lunch for almost three years, even when she was married. She stopped suddenly last month. She also texted me almost every day. I always responded but only initiated when it was work related. That's ended too. I know the reason although she won't tell me. Old college boyfriend is back in her life.

What I didn't realize because I thought we were friends was the depth of feeling she had for me. My daughter insisted no woman feeds you every day for three years out of friendship. I told her that's all it is.

Now my daughter just says, "What have I been telling you all along?" And adds that I'm the most oblivious man she knows."

Is that a quote about the girl who everyone thought we were great friends but couldn't get a response back from. The one who is flaky? The one that I gave the drop to on Christmas eve?

Good timing on that one, oddly.

The guy who booked the last show that went super bad is friends with me and that girl. He asked me if I'd like to try playing again, and I told him I'd only do it if he booked me and that girl on the same night because I would only want to do his show if it was as miserable as possible.

I was obviously being sarcastic since a) there is that whole situation and b) she never played a gig aside from one a year ago. I was basically telling him it ain't going to happen.

So, he booked her for this Sunday. Thankfully he didn't ask me to also play because I'd be on an odd spot trying to back out. I'm definitely not showing up on Sunday.

R*R,

I'm still the most oblivious man I know. But I'm comfortable with that.
