busto,
do you have any tournament strategies?
first in a long time, and already 1 pair of aces down.

I think you should play with the Stars monkey on your back. Feel its weight every time you feel your resolve slipping.

I assume anyone who plays for a living is paying attention, but apparently if the Reid bill on online poker passes in its current form there will be a 15 month blackout period in the US during which online poker will be illegal.

After that US companies, plus Stars and Tilt could be licensed for legal play online in the US. Check the legislation forum.

Word is if it passes, the sites will have 30 days to cash out any US player funds.

What does the lounge think of online poker armageddon? I can't bear to stick my nose into NVG or the zoo We all are or were poker enthusiasts at one time at least. I myself haven't played seriously in ring games since limit became basically extinct but I did still enjoy to play a little casually usually in the form of tounaments or sit n goes. I would often go months without playing then get the bug and play a lot. I probably havn't played since February but now that its gone I miss knowing it was there.

Do you guys think there will ever be a "legal" form of online poker in the US?

of course there will be...that's the whole point of this mess. Of course, it'll be heavily raked and taxed.

I'd put the o/u at Jan. 1 2015.

I've been searching for a way to fill the time and am now working on a new project. I figure I'm occupied for the next 3-6 months. We'll see after that.

California in particular may adopt intrastate ipoker well ahead of a federal bill.

if/when it gets legalized, there will be another poker boom and money will grow on trees.

This. The thought of every fish in American knowing that they can legally get money on and off a site run by the gov't (state or federal, I don't care, please just don't ring-fence Arkansas because I think the site would fail) is about the only thing that keeps me from being depressed daily by the current situation.

I agree but I really think it's a big IF. If we see it I think it will be years. It just seems to me like the kind of thing that will be procrastinated on and pushed aside without a lot of strong political support.

Does anyone here play on Cake? I haven't played online poker in a very long time and was thinking of playing some before work. I registered for a short handed sit and go and ended up unregistering because it wouldn't fill. It was around 8am EST. Does anyone know what times are good for traffic? Kind of sucked to wait around 20 minutes and have only one other person join.

I didn't even know this thread existed...

My housemate is playing on Cake right now, he's 6 tabling 20NL as we speak.

I'm taking a trip with my housemate to Foxwoods sometime this week. That should be interesting my first time in an American casino

Klavs - expect far lower rake than in Oz. Americans also tip poker dealers, usually $1-2 per pot except for very small pots.

$1 per pot is more than enough. (unless you're playing real big, pot > $1000)
