A much younger woman, 50, asked me to attend a play with her in Boston this weekend. I could find no good reason to refuse. I've been asked out on dates before, but I always wonder why, exactly.

Make an effort to wear something becoming. Leave the hoodie thing at home. Don a fedora with a colorful band (you may have to take the fedora off during the play, giving her the impression that you are polite and civil). Also, wear a smile. It won't break your face. I hope you have a good time.

D stands for dipstick.

A dipstick is what you use to check the oil in your car.

Her car is making strange noises and she wants you to check it for her.

I think a play in Boston for an oil change is a fair trade.
