When you are in LA, you gotta roll with your homies in the hood, drop the top and thump the beats in your tinted Escalade limo. Pop the cork on the Sangria, toss back some hot dogs smothered in Grey Poupon, and snort coke off a stripper's left breast.

Ah, Dave, that's a bit out of my league.

I think I have been to the Dipsea Cafe.

My cousins are Californians, but most of them were born in RI, so they're not completely hopeless.

What all the cool kids were wearing in the 50s. Two years old with Davy Crockett shirt and pocket watch. Who gives a two year old a pocket watch?

Belt? What belt? First I've heard of a belt. Nothing but respect from me, Ray.

I had a Davey Crockett shirt also and a coonskin hat. It was a big rage all those years ago.

I'm not sure how people read Clarence Day any more, but it reminded me of how important getting the sports section and reading the ball score was during the first 18 or so years of my life.

Ray and Zeno,

Don't cancel the bachelor party just yet.

Kidding. But I did have dinner with three lovely women last night. Fortunately, we dined outside by candlelight, so they couldn't see how embarrassed I was by the conversation. Which, I think, was the whole point.

Dave,

I went to a conference a couple years ago with six women. On the shuttle back to the airport, five of them were sitting in the back row, and I was sitting a few seats forward next to a guy from England. He asked where I was going, so I told him Salt Lake City and indicating the women, I said I was bringing the wives back to Utah. I said there were six. He asked where #6 was, and I said I gave her permission to leave early. Another guy, a couple rows ahead who could hear everything, turned and glared at me. I figured the guy from England knew I was joking until he asked me how long was the flight to Utah.

The women could hear none of this but saw me laughing a bit. When we got off the shuttle, one asked what I was laughing about. Another said to her that she thought I was telling the guy I was a Mormon and taking the wives to Utah. She's very perceptive. Sometimes.

Red Sox sweep the yanks, all is right with the world, now 9.5 games ahead of the evil empire. Dog days of summer will tell.

It's cooler than it has been. It was 100+ a few weeks ago and now it's only in the low 90s. Very strange year with weather.

I'm in Fullerton where it was 100 yesterday.
