David Hume is right, your thoughts are wrong.

Or, you can just follow whatever the Pope says, or Ray Zee. Flip a coin to decide. Heads: Follow The Pope, Tails: Follow Ray Zee.

Forget about thinking, just stumble forward. You'll be better off that way.

Except on matters of the heart, we seem to be stuck with Ray:-
George Bernard Shaw — 'Why should we take advice on sex from the pope? If he knows anything about it, he shouldn't!'

some of you are too far gone for any help.
most people just need a good kick in the ass once in awhile myself included.

As of October 1, 2021, you will need a Real ID to fly in the US.

I went to renew my ID yesterday and saw this, so after standing outside for an hour in the blazing hot sun, I went home to try to collect the documents. I had just bought a birth certificate back in January, and I can't figure out where the heck I placed it. I tore up my entire place and I simply can't find it. It's hard to accept that I possibly threw it out, but I guess that may have happened.

So, now I'll have to settle for a normal id and wait for a real id. This law was passed back in 2005, in response to 9/11. It's absurd since ID's in CA are now $35 each.

Sounds like an identity crisis.

Dave, Just get a standard passport. Best ID available. And they last ten years before need to renew. Cost is $110 application fee, plus cost for submitted photos. They even have passport cards now which only cost $30 I think. Application forums should be at any Post Office.

I ordered my birth certificate so I could get a passport. A certain news event happened.

At the DMV, I asked the girl if some other services were open. When she told me "yes," I said I assume everything is closed unless I'm told otherwise.

everyone should have a passport. you never know when some event may happen where you need to flee outside the u.s. for some kind of catastrophe. without one you are stuck at the border. look how that has turned out for those trying to get in illegally.
with counterfeiting going on many places are no longer honoring birth certificates for id purposes. and rightly so.

If anyone's getting a new passport, there's a checkbox on the form to order extra pages. Costs nothing to get the extra pages, just in case you end up traveling a lot.
10-22-2020 , 05:49 PM
what happens if traveling and you run out of pages. will you be denied entry?
never thought of it.
10-22-2020 , 09:52 PM
for you to have never considered that, something went against your way of thought

zeno sighting maybe?
one of my spies said he thought he saw zeno at the langlois market eating one of their famous $2.79 homemade hotdogs with homemade mustard drinking one of their 300 microbrew beers.
10-22-2020 , 11:00 PM
That is a great market; world famous and the hot dogs are great. The chili is also good. You can have a growler filled for only $5. Choice of 3-5 different micro brews.

That wasn’t I; I haven’t been in there in weeks. Too busy at home and elsewhere. There is also a great coffee shop in Langlois. That was the last time I stopped.

currently reading this thread while on holiday in Yachats.
The stretch of Oregon coast between here and two miles north of Florence (when the road gets straight and the hats turn red) may just be the best the state has to offer.

On passports; what takes up a whole page is a visa. I had to get some when I traveled to China twice about Ten years ago. You have to sent your passport to the consulate or to an agency, pay a fee, and they paste in the visa. Anyway each page is divided into quarters for stamping entries and exits and you have 12 or 13 pages for those. That’s quite a bit of travel. If you have problems with space while traveling you just contact the US consulate in the respective county, or if low on pages- just get another passport before travel. Plan ahead.

Yachats is a nice stopping place. I think a brewery is there and some great small restaurants.
10-23-2020 , 03:05 AM
good agate hunting on the beach there. with the high tide changes it uncovers a bunch.

luna sea probably best food in town certainly best breakfast if they still are doing it.
the brewery and farm store is next. and then una.
its isnt a great eating town as far as im concerned. but a cool stop in the road.
even though its too busy more going on in newport.
10-23-2020 , 03:08 AM
the north coast is much better or farther south near zeno. your stuck in the middle. you valley guys have a lot to learn, but keep trying.
10-23-2020 , 07:24 PM
Yachats the town is perfectly fine and food and drink is a little sparse (luna still has good fish, and beach street kitchen right next door serves tasty lunch).
we stay there more because it's a good home base along a great stretch of coast for walking/hiking. from smelt sands down to the river, devil's churn, cape perpetua and the overlook, hobbit trail, heceta head, etc.

about a half hour drive south of you near florence is the darlingtonia, or (cobra lily) wayside where you can take a boardwalk and see hundreds of these very rare bug eating plants.

you probably drive past it on your way .
