It's far too easy to tar someone with the brush of misogyny or a bunch of other nasties, and very very difficult if not impossible for the accused to rationally defend their position once that slur has been cast. So I am always very wary of casting those aspersions myself, particularly in this day and age, and I have no respect whatsover for those who cast them freely or without much thought.

As was the case here.

Probably the biggest thing I learned from my time in the Lounge is that I don't like to argue on the internet. Also that I don't want to associate with combative people who like to argue for sport on the internet.

Oh, also that I don't ever want to read or write lengthy posts on an internet forum.

I agree wholly with this. I don't think, however, that em or nut or a few others did so without thought. They are just not that way. And em has already said she regrets the way things happened.

Neither one of us were hanging around at the time it happened. Don't know that it would have changed anything, anyway. As I said earlier in the discussion, before the thread blew up into binary and imprecise conflict, I think Blarg was just tired of it all, and split.

In the happy part of my mind, Blarg resolved his family/work situation, maybe found someone to share his real life with, and simply doesn't need the Lounge anymore.

Be nice of the bastard to pop in and say "Hi" once in a while, though. Especially if it took him eight paragraphs to do it.

I hope that if he ever did post again that the people who so intensely dislike him learn to use the ignore feature. They've made their intense dislike and their reasons known again and again. Time to move on.

I really like making snap judgements. Saves time and energy. Y'all should try it sometimes.
