Polishing the pushers to try to slow down the rusting wouldn't kill me on the Nivrel, but obviously you have to leave the case and dial alone

Good eye. The blue hands with red second hand really seem ahead of their time.

Been wanting a Halios since I just missed out on the Tropik B in green. Still think about trying to grab one used sometime.

Thoughts on Oris

Oris is a good brand, and is good value for the dollar (as far as swiss watches go).

I like my Oris. To me, Oris is basically the highest end of entry level swiss watches. Feels like higher quality than all the rest. I went into a watch shop looking to buy a Hamilton or Tissot and ended up getting the Oris. Really like how Oris matches the date wheel to the face on mine and the one you are considering. One thing I would do if I could go back is buy pre-owned, as I don't think they hold their value well.

Oris is a bridge brand between entry level and luxury, like Sinn or Tag. Sinn's hold their value based on my research(I want one of their pilot chronographs), though they are also a little more expensive. Holding value is extremely rare and shouldn't really be a big concern if you're spending under $2k on a watch, you're not in it for the investment.

Interesting. Makes me think of a Glashutte Original PML.

Agreed, but more reason to buy pre-owned. All I know is I got mine for $1200 and, though it's not a model that comes up often, could have saved $500 if I waited and got it second hand. And with that $500 I could have gotten another watch!

Yeah buying pre-owned is a definite pro move, and oddly I'd feel a lot more comfortable buying a Tissot or a Seiko or whatever used online because nobody makes fakes. When I was shopping for a Datejust on ebay I ended up in an anxiety rabbit hole of googling model numbers and doing side-by-side, pixel-by-pixel comparisons because I was terrified of a Frankenwatch(even from very high feedback sellers).

At what point do you really have to start worrying about fakes? Obviously with Rolex it is going to be a huge concern, but like is anyone bothering with a Tudor? Where is the line?

I don't know if anyone is faking Tudors, but I think you focus on buying the seller as much as the watch. I bought a Tudor Black Bay off watchuseek, by far my biggest online purchase, but before I wired the money I was completely confident from what I had been able to glean about the seller. I want to fully know the seller's identity, which shouldn't be a problem if you're wiring his bank account.

Nice collection. How you like the 7-Day? Love the dial and idea of the movement, but was turned off by the case's bulkiness when tried it on.

Thanks! Really enjoy the Portuguese. It is thick, certainly not a dress piece, but that dial is special, in my opinion.

Getting burned with a true fake is likely pretty much only Rolex, but ebay is FULL of Omega/Zenith/etc, frankenwatches that have been hacked and repainted and polished to **** and back

Have spent a few hours looking into the fake watch business and it is pretty scary. The chinese are really stepping things up. You can get very good fakes from almost any brand. You can also buy fake boxes and papers.

Not going to post the link here, but looking at one of the most popular sites you can get a fake Tudor from $100-$400, +$60 for a fake box and papers. From what I have gathered reading the fake-watch forums you deal through some agents in China who buys the watch and checks the quality before they send it to you, making sure it does not get caught in customs.

I am sure the fakes will only get even better in the years to come so I would be pretty careful when buying from someone who is not and AD.
