When I scroll down the page really fast, this catches my eye every time... and then I see the date window leaning against the 3, and I don't like it anymore.

$50 on Amazon surprisingly really good quality. I am going to order the same band in brown leather.

I have had the blue Orient Mako for a day so far and I love it. After about 20 hours, it has lost/gained a grand total of 0 seconds. Always seems like the Japanese produce things which perform very accurately with low maintenance costs (reminds me of Japanese vs German car maintenance costs).

Bracelet is great, lume is not too bad although could be stronger. Surprisingly the bezel turns fairly easily. At $100-120, it is a super solid automatic diver piece. I like the numerals on it, it's definitely different looking from the standard diver, where everyone tries to copy the look of the Submariner. Highly recommended.

The Visodate is classy and looks nice.....your accuracy may vary though!

Doesn't count! Once you have the watch it needs to be your own pic.

One issue with my mako is that lubricant has vaporized and collected on the underside of the crystal. Someday I'll grow the stones to take it apart and clean it.

I was going to say this. The logo graphic ruins the aesthetic entirely, especially in the context of a "dress" watch.

For this reason I think the Seiko is superior - v nice dress watch for the money.

Well, Mehr, since you won't post a pic of your Orient Blue Mako I had to just buy one for myself . Thanks for getting me thinking about it. I needed a cheaper watch I could wear more casually than the Oris.

I know watches can run off the first day, but my Orient is running 5 minutes fast an hour! I noticed this when I first set it yesterday. I set it and my Oris right before I went to sleep last night. I slept for exactly 7 hours and got up to find my Oris at the right time and the Mako 35 minutes fast! It's so far off that I can't even see it correcting itself over time.

Are you sure it was fully wound?

Hey Gaddy! Damn, that is surprising. Mine has barely lost any time. I believe you must have gotten unlucky with a bad one? Sorry that happened! Definitely return it if you can't figure out what else to do. With mine i just moved my hands around, it started moving, then I set it. Maybe do some google searches and see if that has happened to anyone else.

Did you set the date between the hours of 9pm-4am? I remember reading it is bad to do that (says it in the manual as well), but that is the only thing I can think of. Best of luck, I hope you get a good one or it gets fixed because it really is a great watch! (I think my 3P vendor was discount watch store).

Also, mine actually came to me already running because i think it got enough movement from the ride on the shipping truck. Hopefully as amoeba said it is not fully winded yet. I just read that it goes faster when not fully wound.

First thing the dealer told me when I got my Oris was not to set the date between 9 and 3. Even before the night, when I first set this watch yesterday at around 5:30, I was taking photos at about 7:15 and took one with the Orient and Oris, noticing that the Mako was already 8 minutes fast. I guess at least I have the warranty and the OrientUSA office nearby.

Which watch do you guys prefer?

Tissot PRC 200 Silver Day ~$400:

Hamilton Men's H32515555 ~$500:

Or another other suggestions? looking for white dial, hopefully blue hands, with numerals, auto, sapphire for under $500

I love the Hamilton, personally. A Viewmatic is the next watch I'm going to buy.

Obi, These two posted on recent pages seem to match your wants.

Steinhart Marine 38

Seiko SARB065

I don't like "Day name" windows, so count me out on the Tissot.

Hamilton would be my pick between the two. I really like that Steinhart though.
