Nomos watches look really great in person imo, although some are a bit small. At 41.5mm that one is really sweet though, make sure to compare it to the black-faced one too.

On a side note, I had to jump on this when I saw the post, currently on hold pending him receiving my funds =] - http://forums.watchuseek.com/f29/fs-...se-679258.html

looking for opinions on Nomos. Specifically the nomos club auto. Been seriously considering ordering one, but have never actually seen any model nomos in person. anyone have experience with one. how they stack up to others in their price range?

thanks.
Nomos are great value for what they offer, one of the least expensive ways to get an in house movement. You don't see them very often because they aren't that well known in the states/they don't have any brick and mortar shops here.

Do be aware that a lot of their watches don't have a quickset date.

No.

No AR and a scratched crystal tho?

thats the hesalite speedy so there isnt any AR. not sure why there are scratches on it tho, might just be the plastic thats wrapped around the entire watch case (which made it more reflective to the showroom-like lights in the boutique)

that sounds like it could be annoying.

personally I like the Nomos watches without the date. Just seems a bit more balanced and they usually are a bit less expensive.

Does that one have the sapphire back or the engraved ss back?

Speaking of 2254s, I just noticed over the last few days that mine is running about 2 minutes fast per day all of a sudden. It's been pretty much spot on as long as I've had it and boom, fast. :|

My capeland is also running fast, though it's been around a month since I noticed that. Double whammy.

the speedy pro's actually a 42mm. this is the hesalite 3570 with ss back. dont really like the sapphire as the crystal is rather squarish

I like the hesalite front with the sapphire back even though true moon watch would be ss back. The 861 movement is just too pretty to stay hidden.

Though obviously if I were to get 1 and only 1 speedy pro, I would go for a 321 speedy but those are really pricy.

Quite liked this, not sure if I think the open heart surrounding is ugly or not though.

Then I came across this (not exactly new but I hadn't seen it posted itt and felt it was too impressive not to):

think those look better in blue personally but it'd swap the strap for something else. was planning on getting one last year but i wasn't able to find anyone online that sold them -- i got the impression edox only wants authorized retailers selling them in brick and mortar stores which makes it a bit of a pain.

if everything goes well this year i'm going to convince myself an ochs and junior selene tinta isn't a ridiculous purchase. big thanks to whoever suggested the brand to me earlier in the thread, i've been obsessed ever since.

finally, i had myself put on the waitlist for a fred dingemans (http://www.dingemansmechanischehorloges.nl/) but that could be a few years away. no idea what to have him make me but there's time to figure that out while i wait i guess -- maybe this?

Sat around browsing for ages today and I'd like to buy a Seiko. Initially I was looking at getting the SKX033K (which I understand to be an essentially cheaper version of the SKX033J because the dial is different - no 21 jewels/made in japan - but is this wise to "opt out" on?):

http://www.creationwatches.com/produ...l?currency=USD

However, the SNZF15J is essentially the same style, but has a 7s36 movement instead of 7s26 - is it substantially better/worth buying over the other?

http://www.chronograph.com/store/mli...idproduct=2774

What are people's thoughts - are they decent watches/movements? And what are people's opinions of either watch on a brown leather strap? Would it look right?

Sorry, questions questions questions. Thanks in advance for any replies, though!

Edit:
SKX009K1 practically looks the same watch, with a 7s26 movement also; presumably the only difference is the altered crown position.

Was gonna ask how you felt about the SKX007s.

Between these three and the prices/movements go whichever styling you like best imo, while the general look is the same there's kinda a big difference in the general feel of the bezel of the SKX007s and the other two, crown placement is different and the case less Sub-y. I've never got to play with an SKX033 though.

I have a SNZF15 with white dial/black bezel/oyster, it feels light compared to an OM but it's obviously a less chunky watch and has a different vibe going for it. Keeps time super well, has a decent looking open caseback, usually wear it as a water watch, kinda beat on it with plenty of salt and sand and no problems ever, solid watch for the price.

7s36 and 7s26 are pretty much exactly the same. One of them has an extra jewel but it doesn't really do anything extra.

I would take the skx009 or skx007 or Monster over the SNZF15J or SKX033J as the first 3 are actual rated divers and rated to 200 meters where as the latter 2 are only rated to 100 meters. There also isn't that much of a difference in price.

If you are looking to spend a bit more, I would look at the SKZ325K1 and the srp043k1

I looked at SKX007s but I prefer the blue dial and bezel; I could only find 007s with black dials/bezels. You're saying the 007 is more sub-like and the other two are more sports-y?

Yeah, okay, that's what I'd read but obviously wasn't sure in terms of actual performance. Although I won't really require it (rated that deep), it makes sense. In which case, is in worth getting the SKX009J over the K - for the sake of it?

Thanks for your replies.

Edit: Quite like the SKX007 on a leather strap!
