Confession time.

One of my coworker showed up sporting a new two toned Submariner this week. I told him I liked it.

I really don't. His plain stainless is really so much better looking.

I fancy myself a good eye at spotting watches on people and I have to give major props to anyone who can identify that as a Breguet.

Especially from just the reflection!

Looking for a women's watch in the ~$1000ish territory.

She likes:
Reverso on bracelet
"classic" look

Will be a lawyer, and wearing as an every day watch. Currently has no watch. So, should be professional, go with everything (but mostly suit type stuff). She's not married to either the bracelet or the rectangular face.

does she want mechanical or quartz?

maybe something like this?

http://www.amazon.com/Baume-Mercier-.../dp/B000FNLDW6

or this

http://www.amazon.com/Maurice-Lacroi.../dp/B000ZLY84I

swiss women's mechanicals are going to be tough in that range but stylistically limited especially with regards to rectangular watches.

if you want mechanical, you might look at some vintage Omegas or Longines.

how much of a fashion faux pas is it to wear the speedy panda on a leather strap with dress shirts, with or without tie/suit?

She doesn't have a preference in mechanical/quartz.
She's also not tied to rectangular, but does like the B&M except for the odd starburst-y effect on the face. Will check out some vintage watches on Ebay.

There are some Dubey and Schaldenbrand watches on sale on ivory trunk right now.

decent selection of classic looking mechanical women's watches.

as noted, none. the faux pas would be wearing it with the bracelet and a dress shirt.

yeah I like that one too. The out of the way reduced size running seconds subdial, no cut off numbers.

personally i like the big sweeping second hand motion in most mech watches like subc etc. it's one of the beautiful things about looking at them. anyone know if letting the chronograph second hand run like a normal second hand will hasten the wear and tear on the movement in the long run?

I finally got a chance to see my brother's Steinhart chrono. I love it. Super solid build, great face, and a really nice bracelet. Crappy cell phone pic here but I have more on my wife's camera.

Interesting to see the 44 vs 41 size diff compared with my Navi.

it won't hasten the wear and tear but your power reserve might be a bit less with the chrono running.
