For black and orange Doxa is king imo, but I think they're all in the >1k range, although some not by much. You can definitely get them used for ~1k pretty frequently on the watch forums though. One sexy example (750t Sharkhunter):

Now that's an awesome watch. I went on the JLC website and unfortunately, you can only get black face with leather strap or silver face with steel strap. sigh.

Are the prices that I found online correct in that it's $5.5k?

grey market price, $5.5k is probably not super far off.

This is inaccurate. I'm at JLC's website looking at it on silver-croc.

You have three variables. Case, strap/bracelet, and reference.

Just select a different reference. The variables are to the right of the watch.

EDIT: Whoops I misread your statement. In any case I feel pretty confident that if you wanted black face with SS bracelet they'd be able to do that no problem.

BTW Just talk to an AD or buy used. Your best bet is to get it on the bracelet and get a strap later on. There are tons of different strap companies that could make a strap for you, but the bracelets are very expensive and you can only get it from JLC.

An AD would almost definitely be willing to give you an extra strap etc. if you asked them about it.

Seriously, they have no problem doing favors right now. If you do go and see this in person take a pic from the side I wanna see just how thin it really is. (IIRC it's 6-7mm but it's hard to visualize)

thanks for the advice, just a few questions.

what's an AD?

Also, when you say bracelet you're talking about the steel, right? And when you say strap you're just talking about the leather?

I think you also misunderstood the combo I wanted. Ideally I want a black (non-leather) strap and a black face. Unfortunately they don't even have that kind of strap on the website.

And according the the specs on the website it's just under 4mm tall, pretty awesome imo.

An AD is an Authorized Dealer. It's the way to go if you want to have all of the proper paperwork, manufacturer's warranty, etc. The warranty is the main thing.

Grey market is a store that sells watches without the manufacturer's warranty. Typically, they are authentic watches, but come with a warranty from the seller instead. The price will be lower as a result of this. Sometimes, they have the serial numbers scratched off, but it seems like most of the legit ones don't do that anymore. You have to decide for yourself if the guarantee of an authentic, warrantied watch is worth the extra cost.

As for straps/bracelets, the general rule is that a metal one is referred to as a bracelet. Other materials (leather, rubber, nylon) are referred to as a strap. Black bracelets (metal) are not as common, so I'm not surprised that JLC doesn't have them. BTW, a black bracelet is usually known as PVD, which is the coating they put on them to make them black. Hope that helps.

4mm is the movement height, not the height of the watch, which is more around 8mm I believe.

Guys probably selling recently acquired Steinhart Triton 30 ATM (new model by them www.steinhartwatches.de, I've worn it twice in the house) including an uncut Steinhart rubber strap and clasp in addition. Love the look, I stare at it often, but it just doesn't make my wrist for some reason. $550 all in shipped. Going to try and chip away at the cost of the Blackbird I think I'm going to incur.

Just tried this on last night..

Super comfy. Anyone in the NNJ area, Omega just opened a store in Riverside Square in Hackensack. Yesterday was the grand opening.

Also tried on the Seamaster Aqua Terra Annual Calendar...simply awesome, although not sure if it's $4k more awesome than the non-annual model.

I like the PO, the only thing that bugs me is 'squished' numbers on the bezel and the helium release stick out to me.

New Dievas, limited edition (50 pieces).
Looks pretty cool imo, $1k. 42.5mm beauty with ETA 28-24.
I think this suits me perfectly tbh.

Longines is pretty too 47 is f'in huge though imo especially for a dressy watch.
Very nice. Does the bezel look that shiny/large in person or it just the camera/angle?

lol, I really dislike the way that non-steel straps look. Doesn't matter the material. I also dislike complicated watches, and ones with a 'wow' factor. Plain and simple ftw.

I see. IMO you would probably be all over this watch then.

It's the new Ayrton Senna tourbillon from Hublot.

Case is carbon fiber, really lightweight. Note how the bezel resembles a slotted brake rotor from a car. You can also see the power reserve at 9 and the monopusher, as well as the column wheel at 12.

I'm not 100% on the dial but I'm guessing the running seconds are just on the tourbillon itself, and the 2 subdial is the chrono seconds and the 10 is the chrono minutes.

At 48mm with a bright yellow gummy croc strap this watch just screams "understated" from the top of a building.

I asked a few ADs about this watch, turns out they won't just order one because I want to look at it.
