Really? I don't even think that collectors have all that much interest in actually wearing that.

No but collectors don't wear watches, they collect them.

There was a huge Rolex meetup on a forum a while back and almost every single person was wearing a vintage of some sort.

I don't really care for vintage watches but they certainly have a very serious following and I think the price of this Sub reflects that.

If I paid $60k for that I'd wear it all day every day and have the receipt tattood on my forehead

Seriously though I just think all the watches posted are really pretentious and over the top. I've been reading for quite some time because I want to buy myself a nice watch, but every watch that I've seen and liked has been in the $200-$500 range. And all of the watches that cost $5k+ I wouldn't pay $200 for unless I could resell them immediately for $5k+

that's a nice watch actually, congrats. Do you know if it's available in a non-leather strap?

Recently been really attracted to very nice but very simple watches such as the JLC Master Grande Ultra Thin

Great watch. They also make even smaller versions that are even thinner.

Maybe someone could explain why they don't get thinner unless they lose some diameter? I would have guessed that a bigger diameter watch has more room to work with inside so you could space things out better but it's obviously not the case.

Another very nice watch

IWC Portuguese handwind from their vintage line. It's 10mm thick or so

10k retail

well their thinner watches are handwound so thats why. I believe the master grande is a 3.98mm automatic and the handwounds are 1.85mm movement, which is just ridiculous.

I have no idea what the case height is of the master grande but the handwound case height is 4.2mm.

Keeping with the styles posted above, here is one I absolutely love:

It's fairly inexpensive (2.6k MSRP) and has a nice large face (~47mm). Might be picking this one up in the new year.

That Portu is so pretty.

In relation, standard Master Control auto, 40 and 8.5

Longines is pretty too 47 is f'in huge though imo especially for a dressy watch.

I'm really into the color combination of black and orange. I just love the look of it. There are a bunch of rugged type of watches with this color scheme

For example:

but I'm wondering if any of you know are aware of more elegant and/or less bulky watches that are available in black and orange. Preferably < $1k

Thanks. I'm not a huge fan of this Seiko, but I decided to simply google "black and orange watch" and I found some pretty sexy ones.

This one is my favorite but it's out of my price range:

Cheap but pretty cool looking:

Anyone familiar with TW Steel???

not a fan of TW Steel's offerings

For orange and black, my favorite is probably the Mido Multifort Chrono

For an homage piece, the Debaufre czar is not bad and not super expensive
