Those Nomos look a lot like Stowa, particularly the first one.

So, I have a wee touch of the sickness when it comes to horses. Nothing else: I don't play B&M table games other than poker (which I am winner at, at the levels I play) I don't bet sports other than baseball but then, only for fun... Something about the ****ing horses/dogs hooks me bad and always has.

Brag: Finally ground out enough from SSNL to buy the UG Tri Compax my friend was selling as part of his larger collection

Beat: I decided that the one UG wasn't good enough and I wanted two others he had, so when the check came, I went to the (o)track(b) and urinated away all of my painfully ground pokering monies.

Variance: This post has no point and probably won't be interesting to anyone, but really, it's the only place where I can vent about this loss with people who may be remotely sympathetic to my situation.

Cliffs Notes: Watchmaker sucks, is ******ed and will never own the UG Tri Compax he wants because of the afforementioned two factors.

Not much. Haven't been working on it for a while.
Too many horological irons, only one fire. I'll finish it this year, but it probably won't be as elaborate as I had originally envisioned, which is pretty much the story of my life.

Anybody know what watch Antonius is wearing here?

It has a rubber strap and what looks like rubber buttons.

its looks like it has the breitling applied wings logo but it's actually a JLC compressor diving chronograph

i'm kinda meh on bhreitling but i like the contrast on the face and the font of the subdials. i feel like if it was slightly less busy and they highlighted the subdials moreso than the busy-ness in general it would look a lot better, but seems pretty nice and a lot nicer than a lot of other breitlings i've seen.

If you trade it in at a dealer you'll get raped. Try to sell it privately.

It shouldn't need a servicing in 2 years. A good polishing can take care of a lot of damage unless you have really, really deep gouges etc.

just how bad am i going to get raped? is selling it going to be time consuming? i mean if it takes a lot of time, the opportunity cost of the time i spend on it will likely be > than how bad a dealer rips me off.

yea skier in your situation i highly doubt it's going to be worth it for you to try and resell it. if you paid 4k from it you're prob going to be hard pressed to get more than like 2300 or so from it, and for that price it's prob worth just keeping and wearing occasionally in addition to w/e else you decide to get.

from a dealer trade-in you'd be lucky to get anything close to 2k.. more like 1500

especially in this environment. things like watches are never worth nearly as much as you think they are used.

Hey, so I need some help picking out a watch (or two). I normally like watches with metal bracelets, but my experience is that the strap scratch up too easily. I am wearing a cheap watch with a rubber strap right now and have been generally happy with how durable it has been.

I really like this for every day... I love the colors and the rubber strap for durability. The thing I don't like about it of course, is the Honda F1 thing...

I also really like the Tag Carrera but it's too expensive.

I usually like watches with chronographs as ones without tend to look a little too plain to me. I like a lot of Hamilton watches but don't want to spend quite that much.

My price limit is about $900 USD. I would even consider getting a semi-cool $50-200 watch for everyday and $700 for going out and dressing up.

I like a lot of the swiss army watches...

Does anyone have suggestions?

Can anyone recommend a reputable place online with good prices to buy watches? I've done some searching around, but have only found a couple of places...

www.jomashop.com

you're getting a "grey market" watch but that's gonna be fine if you're not spending thousands.

iirc there's a hammy chrono for like $450, not quite as sleek looking as the tag but not quite as techno looking as that seiko.

You should be able to find a similar non-honda-branded sportura.

One thing to note there, that piece looks like it will have difficulty accepting aftermarket straps. Finding OEM straps a few years from now may be problematic.

Many watches with steel bracelets can take aftermarket straps (as long as the bracelet isn't "integrated").

Not bad. That would be a decent choice for a strictly dress up watch. Probably too expensive for me though.
