I just noticed something, does it have crowns on both sides?

Yep. Guessing one of them sets the alarm.

i know sometimes they're needed for the different complications...but i hate the "crowns on both sides of case" look.

...and welcome to the glashutte bandwagon, still plenty of room on this german horse.

Nice. I don't remember seeing Glashütte before this thread. Very cool watches/brand. Found this one when googling.

And on a completely different note.. Is it it only me; or am I the only one getting annoyed when I see watches by Armani, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, and other clothing-brands in high end watch shops. It seems to me so... unworthy. lol

Told myself after 2 recent buys I was done, but this one was too good to pass up. Absolutely awesome watch for the price and the customer service has been great. My only change is I ordered a deployant clasp to replace the buckle.

Ordered from here: http://www.mywatchmaker.net/deployantclasp.htm

Meh. There are plenty of "respectable" brands that don't do any more than those guys do. They design a dial/case/hands and dump a pre-fab swatch (err, I mean, "ETA") movement in there. EG: tag, breitling, bazillions of other swiss "houses". Oh, wait, breitling has an "in house" movement now, one they bought from seiko.

I'm going to Vegas next week and I'm wondering what the general consensus is towards buying a watch there. I have a feeling that, like most of the shopping there, its more expensive than usual.

At this point I looking at something between $500-$1000. I've narrowed it down a Tag F1 Chrono or a Hamilton Jazzmaster Maestro.

Huh. Interesting. I didn't know that. Not surprised tho.

Been done so many times before. I.e:
Make miniscule changes in design, color, and convince the public that this product is the one that stands for "quality". win.

Good place to look but hard place to get a deal.. Great place for test drives if you get a good sales person.

I've been looking around online for a Seiko SNA027P1 with no luck. Anyone know where I can get one for a reasonable price (~$200).

What is the deal with citizen ecodrive watches? I have an expensive ecodrive ($300+) and have seen the list on these going as high as $550 but these days there seems to be some very inexpensive ecodrives floating around (at costco etc) that are not as fancy but priced in the $150 range. Are these similar quality? Is there a lower budget line made in Korea or something?

Ecodrive is just a Citizen trade name for a quartz movement with a solar charger.

You can find "regular" non-solar quartz movements in $5 watches and in $5000 watches.

While I agree with this, I must say I love my TAG F1 Chrono. Beautiful watch.

Thanks for the feedback. I've definitely been leaning towards the Hamilton. I'll post pics after I get it.

amazing engineering in this high-end watch, square gear as an hour hand.

this is the kind of thing that makes me excited about mechanical watch design.

Used to have one like that, but with the slate-colored dial, very nice watch but it's a total scratch magnet.

Kinda miss it a bit, I'm thinking of getting the Blackbird, same size and style, but without the scratching & the bling-ness.

Also, to the Glashütte Original fans, check out the GO Evolution Sport (someone posted it with the tourbillion, but that's like 80k US used) I think the Evo Sport will be about 5-6K US (based on EU price, so maybe lower) if you can find it used.

That's a very well-made watch, totally in-house (even make their on tools to make their watches). Will get the Sport Evo someday, really nice with the Trieste-strap.

Sweeeet! Yeah, for ~$365 it's a steal of a watch. I thought I'd hate the crown, but it's really not bad at all.

Yes but why the difference in Citizen prices? Are some of the Citizens lower quality? How can you tell and what is different?
