I finally made my first foray into the higher-quality watch scene. I've always been heavily deterred by my job, as being in a very small cockpit tends to scratch the **** out of all metal watches I've ever had, and the only thing I really use my watch for is to marry up GPS time hacks in a brief and right when I start the jet. I just decided that I want a nice, functional, lifelong time piece, and I will continue to just wear my G-shock with a large digital display when I'm flying.

So far I love it. Anybody else have one, or have opinions?

^ not really a fan. Bezel is too thick and chunky eating up viable face size, dislike most bracelets, and traditionally don't care for any digi/analog watches. And it's quartz. As long as you like it, who gives an F. Congrats.

Haha I love that take. Understandable objections but the last sentence is truly appreciated!

He had a Seiko 6138 chrono which had been through the wringer, but is still to this day ticking just fine. He loved that particular watch because he could work the chrono just fine with his flight gloves on.

He eventually upgraded to a G-Shock DW-5600C (the "original") and then to a 5600E after the C got a few too many JP-4 stains.

can't find a pic of the 5600C.

shows up fine for me, I even looked at it on another computer so I know it's not in the cache or whatever over there. Why would it being on photobucket keep it from being viewed??

A good review of that B&M diver compared to a mid-range japanese diver:

Wow, the last 10 or so posts are gold. Not really a fan of divers (unless we're talking the new Promethuses) but I don't mind that Bernarus, quite simple, and nice.

That Seiko is d-fine. What model is that?

To add: After reading that comparison PVN, that B & M looks great on that brown leather strap. I love that brushed titanium look.

I currently have the Nixon Player,

but want something nicer that isn't a Nixon (so many kids my age, 20, have this watch or other similar nixon watches). I like the look of the watch and want something with a similar look, simple with clean smooth lines. Looking to spend under $750 on this and I know nothing about watches. Where should I start? Any recommendations?

That general look of that Nixon is very modern Movado, which is almost the obvious "next step" for that look, but there's a ton of stigma attached to the name, I'd browse Hamiltons or something, they might have the general look of that but not sure.
