Lovely purchase, I'm glad you found something more in tune with where you are in life now!

Thanks. I know it's not the Panerai that the purists love, but makes me happy.

No bought it from an AD. I read up enough that there are quite a few fakes out there. Also, I'm never one to impulse buy or settle for something similar. I spent days trying to figure out the one I liked the most and just shrugged off the models that the AD had in stock. I was willing to wait 2 months to get it and luckily their Panerai rep found one from another dealer in a couple of weeks.

With very few exceptions, all high end watches use a movement that does not require a battery. At a very very high level you can do with with an "Automatic" style which uses a weighted wheel to spin around and charge up the mainspring as you move your arm/watch. Or you can use a "Manual wind" to physically spin the crown and charge up the watch for a given amount of time.

From there watches can have different complications. This is just a fancy word for features like a moving second hand, power reserve meter, chronograph, etc. The gauge on my watch is a power reserve so I know how much power is left before I need to wind it again. If I don't, the watch will just stop and I will have to reset the time and charge it up again.

Here is an introduction and there are some cool videos/channels that get into the nitty gritty of how and why brands create their watches.

OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M TOKYO 2020 [Olympic inspired?]

I do like the Olympic SM, though not as much as the speedys (Japan only).

Still on deposit lists at 2 ADs for a snoopy 50th... One has said it'll likely be next year as Omega are focusing production on the new moonwatch.

Wonder if mine will say "52nd anniversary"?

The deconstructions from the Naked Watchmaker are fantastic.

I called a local Omega boutique and inquired. I was told they are only getting 10 this year. That I could put my name on the waiting list but there was no guarantee I'd ever get it, and priority will be given to people with previous spending with them. So basically they're trying to be Rolex. Completely turns me off from ever getting one. If they said that I could deposit half now and somewhere in the second half of next year pay the other half and get one, I'd do it.

Omega watches aren't that stable on the secondary market and as a matter of fact, you can normally get a percentage off msrp.

Yes, when I got my Moonwatch, I got it gray market for 30% off msrp. But we’re talking about the Snoopy 50th anniversary. They’re trying to be Rolex with it, telling you there’s a waiting list and no guarantee if you’ll ever get one, even though it’s not a limited watch. And it’s going for 3x msrp at resale right now.

true that... Snoopys are very popular as is the 321 ed white.
I want that 321, but at MSRP... I am not paying gray market inflated pricing for that piece. while it is a one watch maker assembled watch, it isn't a limited piece.

Still no news on my Snoopy, but they're trickling onto the market (seemingly most ending up on chrono...).

To tide me over I got a couple of bargains.

Rado R32120112 Hyperchrome (not my cup of tea so sent off to watchfinder)

Baume & Mercier Clifton 10449 with very cool retrograde date.

Imgur fail...

Oh, managed to snag a Nasa g-shock. Was a US only release, so had to use a reshipping company.

Bought a Wolf 3 slot watch winder at the weekend, finally don't have to manually set my watches! Sadly this means I will have to buy a third watch now...

Don't run them full time... while there isn't any issue with them running 24/7, it will mean more wear on the drive train which means more servicing .

I just use my winder to juice up my piece for an hour or two before wearing them.

I'll probably use it mainly for the one I wear most that is more of a pain to reset, moon phases etc. Agree for the others!

Alas, no. Not willing to pay 6x RRP or more...

But I'm planning to replace the bezel once I get a cheap white donor.

Anyone who's hesitant to try selling to watchfinder (.co.uk in my case), don't be! They offered me a very fair price range for a Rado, and after sending off for inspection I received the top end of that range in my bank account in a day or so. Highly recommended.

Anyone have any experience with selling on Chrono24?
I put up an old Tag Heuer Formula One watch I have that I've worn once a year the last 3-4 years and just wondering if I can expect to sell it or it will never sell?

FWIW I see 8 listings of the same watch and I put mine up for the lowest price.

chrono is good... very good. however it can take time because it's not auction related.
did you enable 'offers'?
One thing about some pieces from some manufacturers, they not only sink in valuation, but also in desirability.
its gonna take time... maybe a LONG time.
