Totally not familiar with the american watchstores, so what other big watchstore are there in NY?

And 1 last question is there a possibility to contact Tourneau and asked for my watch in the color I want? Or just hope that they have the watch in one of there NY store?
Yes, just call and ask if they have the exact model you want in stock to try on..

I'd check the Brietling forums (they must exist right?) and ask for good dealer recommendations in that city as I'm sure there are plenty of them.

btw. NYC has the best watch shopping in North America, enjoy.

In NYC, there are basically 2 streets with tons of watch stores.

For the high end stuff at the big well known places, the Tourneau on 57th St. between Madison and 5th Avenue is I believe their biggest branch. In the very immediate area of that store are several other similar competitors, of those the most well known are Kenjo (this one's only in NYC) and Wempe, which has a bunch of German stores but not very many elsewhere. All 3 and several brand stores (AP store, Omega store etc.) are in very close proximity and you can travel to one and walk to each additional location in 5-10 minutes easily. The problem with most of these locations is that you will find it tough to get a really good deal, they have enough tourists pumping them money that they won't go much lower than retail (if at all).

The interesting and much cheaper alternative is the jewelry district. This is 47th St. between 5th and 6th avenues, and this is a much better location in some ways and much worse in others. You won't find any SUPER high end stuff, but what you do find is amazing deals on the common brands (not cheap though, Rolex/Breitling/Panerai), and a ton of used stuff at great prices. And unlike the chains on 57th, you can and should haggle at any store here.

Sorta unique is my favorite watch location in the city, and very well worth it if you're into vintage stuff. Aaron Faber's (http://www.aaronfaber.com/) is amazing for old stuff, but has zero items that aren't preowned. Small store, but the place is like a museum.

Re: 47th street, better check their hours before you go, especially on Saturday. If the jewelers are like the electronics stores in that area, they're owned by Orthodox Jews and closed Saturdays.

Just picked up an Omega SMP 300 (blue version). Really fell in love with it when I checked out BB last weekend (too bad they won't be carrying Omegas anymore). Will post pictures when it arrives!

Anyone with thoughts on Breitling... Seawolf or Steelfish?
Let's Talk Watches Quote

I've wanted to pull the trigger on a yellow Seawolf so many times. The boxy red second hand, the black numerals, the overall shape, love it, but when you get to it, the thing is 45mm wide, which is barely doable, but 18mm deep, it barely looks like it fits with the bracelet its so huge and misplaced and just obnoxious. Especially on my wrist from what I've tried, but I feel like it looks that way with anyone with the measurements of the thing. Love the look otherwise though.

Steelfish are a slight tick smaller, more reasonable, new ones are pretty hot imo. Try em out, see how they feel.

Between those two I would say Steelfish. It probably has to do more with my style than anything but I prefer a more classic/conservative look (lol breitlings) and between those two the steelfish is obviously much better.

Just bought this Breitling chrono superocean. Am very happy with it so far, it was exactly what I was looking for. Makes it sweeter as the woman in the shop said oh its coming up $1k cheaper than the list price, then just put it through without checking with anyone.

Just curious - How much does the average poster in the thread spend on a watch as a percentage of their bankroll?

I don't play poker, but I got mine brand new from an AD for $4,100, the MSRP is $5,400

In my mind, watches are a somewhat subtle addition to a great lifestyle. They look good everywhere and with everything and can last a lifetime.

So I happened upon the Mont Blanc Timewalker yesterday and figured it might be time to purchase a nice watch. I figured I should consult the gurus here as I know basically nothing about nice watches.

The watch retails at 7k CAD which is a fair bit more then I would feel comfortable spending and having to worry about. I noticed there are knock offs you can buy online for sub $300 and im curious if anyone has any experience with purchasing these? (just a waste of $$ or legitimately keeps the look/feel of the original)

I decided I would scan through the thread and see what else I liked out there and immediately found several watches I liked:

Feel free to let me know what they think or post up alternatives.

Had never really seen this watch before just now, but it is very nice and fits my tastes well.

I did a quick search, but couldn't seem to find the exact model pictured, with the black/stainless band. Is this custom or something?

Also, what can you tell me about the montblanc name.. Quality watchmaker or overpriced rubbish?

100% obv. Sometimes even 200, 300 or 400%.

http://www.montblanc.com/products/ch...p?searchresult

It comes in a variety of flavors and the same watch in a leather band.

EDIT: I know nothing about Mont Blanc quality... hopefully someone else can chime in. For 7K it better be top notch though!

Not familiar with Mont Blanc.. Hamilton is a solid maker and I like that model quite a lot. I think if the style suites you, you get a lot of bang for your buck.
