I am listening to some Lady Gaga. I am now dissecting "Poker Face."

This song is actually brilliant. The monotone verses help create that impression of not will9ing to open up. The music is still high energy, and this contrast creates a strong anticipation for the hook. The bridge is sort of weak, but it helps push the song along, and at least helps introduce the changing rhythm of the hook, which thankfully is near the beginning of the song. However, the hook is too short and sadly too forgetable.

The final verse is more expressive, signifying her slowly opening up. The final hook is okay, but perhaps too long. In fact, the fact that the hook is only two lines makes me wish she put a bit more effort in it.

The rhythm is catchy, and the entire is something like you may have never heard before. Another point that makes it a strong song is that it is very hard to remix without changing it completely, as looking up the remixes will clearly show. (No one has rearanged the song). I have a good idea for turning it into trance.

Lady Gaga is such a great live performer imo...she tries to make her performances unique and memorable from each other instead of constantly recycling the same thing over and over (cough Beyonce cough)

I don't particularly like her music, you can't deny her abilities. Her performance at the Grammys show that she is the full package of performer, signer and she can even play an instrument. In addition, she created a character that the media just loves to consume and feed off of.

imo without all the over the top clothes and PR stuff she would be a complete unknown. Right or wrong i dont really care... but if we're going to get into "she's a real musician" then im going to have to say that real musicians focus more on writing good songs than trying to make their appearance the most memorable or marketable thing about them.

SHE might be a damn good musician... LADY GAGA on the other hand is a complete fool and is pretty much on the same level as Kanye West to me.

Lady Gaga is just her selling out and now being used by music execs to make mad money based on the stupid publicity that remarkably works on a bunch of insecure consumers. People who try to argue that Lady Gaga is brilliant in what she is doing is giving her way, way too much credit imo. That said, I'd wear all that **** and act like a fool, too.

I disagree with this. Kayne West is a douchebag who believes in his hype. Lady Gaga is so obviously playing with the media and different personae as performance art. She's purposely over the top.

Kanye can barely be considered music. He is just a bunch of loops and samples, and all his songs sound similar and copied. He can't dance either.

Interesting song and video for sure. I had to look up the lyrics to see what she was talking about. At first, I thought my fears were correct: that she was making a song about being chased by paparazzi, which is egotistical of her to do on her debut album, but I get what it is talking about now. The premise of the song is that a character is chasing a star and obsessed with him/her. Really, it may be called "stalker," but the theme of calling paparzzi selfish and intrusive has been a common theme from the earliest songs about them (thinking this is strongly reflected in "Paparazzi" by Xhibit)

So, I don't think that she is demonstrating that she is taking herself too seriously in this video. More that she is ripping on the extents that people will go to get on TV, a'la the kissing between Britney and Madonna, and Marilyn Manson, and perhaps lesbian porn.

Look up his "homecoming" on youtube. If you can legitimately tell me that that doesn't sound like the tail end of R&B music, and then tell me that song is in key, then I will go play Russian Roulette with my guitar. All his music sounds like he is tone deaf.

Even though she is more pop now days, it is clear that she is classically trained. Her use of monotone and expression is highly advanced for someone her age. Reality is that skill level is more fitting for someone near 40.
