Pardo might have been the last person whose career is older than commercial TV. He started with NBC radio during WWII, then moved to the television side as soon as it launched.

Man, I remember Pardo as the announcer on the old Art Fleming Jeopardy like it was yesterday. Later on SNL I always thought of him as the Jeopardy guy.

Real Great American Novel is Huckleberry Finn.
Modern Great American Novel is Jonathan Franzen's The Corrections

RIP Richard Kiel, James Bond villian "Jaws". He also played as Club, the humongous laborer of Coy LaHood's in Pale Rider. His first major role, albeit in a minor picture, was the title role in Eegah.

RIP Paul Revere Dick of Paul Revere and the Raiders, who recorded Louie, Louie around the same time as the Kingsmen. It was that record that got the attention of Columbia Records.

RIP

The very first record album I ever bought with my paper route money way back when was Paul Revere and the Raiders greatest hits which I still have 45+ years later.

Paul Revere and the Raiders was the first concert I ever went to. I hardly knew the band though. I think the girl I went with must have asked me. Another friend went too. Lame Jr. High not really a date thing.

Didn't have that album but listened to it endlessly at a friends house, along with The Best of Kinks and The Best of Roger Miller and other Best of Albums that I can't recall right now. Good Times.

I recently watched the Ginger Baker documentary (as recommended in the EDF documentaries thread). Seems like Jack and he really didn't get along (although Ginger seemed near impossible to get along with).

I chose him as my bassist in the Lounge supergroup draft. Always loved Cream. White Room was my favorite song of his.
