David Cassidy RIP.

I remember seeing him headlining a Vegas show at the MGM Grand in a fantasy type sci-fi musical called EFX about 25 years ago. I think it may have been the first show I went to in Vegas.

The Partridge Family first aired when I was 14-years-old. I remember making a point to watch it every Friday night. But I think that had more to do with the fact that I very quickly became madly in love with Susan Dey, rather than wanting to listen to David Cassidy sing. Nevertheless, RIP David, you died much too soon.

RIP David Cassidy. The only time I saw him live was in the musical Time way back in the 80's.

The Partridge Family was good IIRC.

The Bonaduce kid was good anyway, him and Cassidy had good chemistry trading insults, also the manager. For a 70s sitcom you could do a lot worse.

Insanely popular.

*** In Australia in 1974, the mass hysteria was such that calls were made to have him deported from the country, especially after the madness at his 33,000-person audience concert at Melbourne Cricket Ground***

Cassidy was the biggest star in the world at one time...I remember just about every girl in my 4th grade had a David Cassidy lunchbox.

I had a James Bond lunchbox.

And then 10 years later broke.

His last 10 years of his life seemed to be DUI-central. Of course he should have used Uber, but either he didn't care or Alzheimer's got in the way of a rational decision.

I wouldn't call his life totally tragic. Pretty amazing experience to be the #1 star in the world.

That guy probably could have banged thousands of girls if he wanted to. I also remember every girl having lunch boxes, magazines or anything that had his picture on it.

RIP David Cassidy

Years ago Danny Bonaduce used to do a radio show in Chicago. He talked about Cassidy a lot. He said all he ever wanted to be was Cassidy. Being a 13 year old chubby red headed kid seeing a guy pulling every piece of tail in the world had to something to yearn for.

RIP Tommy Keene, made great but obscure solo power pop records as well as played with Robert Pollard, Paul Westerberg, Matthew Sweet, etc.
Unfortunately I never saw him play his own show live but did see him playing guitar in Westerberg's band in the late 90s.

You only put the stuff after the "v=" into the youtube code. In your case U_1fyj2CoFU for the first post. Do not put the full url of the video.

Thanks for fixing; you could delete one of the duplicates. There are more Keene songs linked to the news article if anyone wants to hear more.

Of course famous for Gomer Pyle USMC and having a singing voice that didn't match his talking one

Don't forget The Andy Griffith Show as well, where he initially created the character. Gomer Pyle, USMC was a spinoff of that show.

RIP

I never understood how he got his own show, never even liked his character on Andy Griffith. Thought it was the weakest part and the his replacement as Goober was better.
