Lol Cam runs all over the dolphins and it’s “Cams Back”. Josh throws all over the dolphins and it’s “well it’s the dolphins”.

For some reason a couple of Wyoming games showed up on the local tube when he was there and I'd much rather watch him. Freakishly good.

Because thread title: RIP Joseph Heller, NFL.

The Buffalo Bills QB. Dom is a huge Bills fan. He didn't die, just a joke.

The Rams died today, so they're the joke. Dom's moving today, I hope he got to watch some of the game. Go Bills!

Just saw Gale Sayers died, he was a little before my time but I know the oldtimers always swear he was sui generis special before his injuries. If only his body had been as rugged as Jim Brown's.

The best rb for me, back in what I consider my football fan prime, was OJ Simpson. And there you go.

Helen Ready of "I Am Woman" fame, died yesterday at the age of 78. I remember her women's anthem songs being all over the radio during the 1970s. According to the NY Times, she was the first Australian-born artist to win a Grammy and the first to make the Billboard 100 record charts.

A little late with this one, but Shere Hite, author of The Hite Report, died a couple weeks ago.

Mac was probably a better song writer than anything else, especially identifying social inequality from a redneck texas point of view in the 60s and 70s.

and on a much different topic, this classic

and of course this from ND40

In addition to being a great movie, it reminds me of a time when pro football teams only had 40 players instead of 53, and the players were actually expected to play all three downs. Not to mention a time when defenses were actually allowed to play defense.

The BBC reminded me that Denise Johnson Died 27th July. Great singer, very well respected by many great musicians, and a very good songwriter and producer in her own right.
This interview is worth a watch

I liked Mac Davis! He had a nice low-key charisma and wrote some damn fine songs. Don't forget Oh Lord It's Hard to Be Humble.

edit: also Lubbock, Texas in My Rear View Mirror.

Bob Gibson, a Hall of Fame baseball pitcher died Oct. 2, 2020, in Omaha at age 84. Truly one of the greats.

Even though he retired long before I was born, Gibson was one of my favorites when I was a kid learning the games history.

RIP to one of the GOATs.

Gibson's domination in 1968 played a part in MLB's reaction in 1969 to
Quote:
Sometimes known as the "Gibson rules", MLB lowered the pitcher's mound by five inches in 1969 from 15 inches to 10 and reduced the height of the strike zone from the batter's armpits to the jersey letters
. this is like the NBA adjusting the rules for Wilt because he was so dominant.

And I hated him, but not for being a mean MF.

I was 11 in 1967 and just starting Little League. As a lefty, I patterned my batting stance after one of the biggest left-handed stars in the game, Carl Yastrzemski. And since Miami didn't have a baseball team in those days (and we've barely had one since), I became a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan that year, which was of course, the year of the Impossible Dream.

The Red Sox faced the Cardinals in the World Series that year, and Bob Gibson utterly destroyed the dream single-handedly with his right arm. He won 3 games (1,4 & 7), pitching all 27 innings and giving up a total of 3 runs, the last 2 in game 7 when the Cardinals already had a commanding lead and the series won.

I never forgave him for destroying a little boy's dream.

Until now.

RIP Bob
