Actually, Morris was there the whole time; it's just that Shula didn't decide to feature him and make him the starting running back until the 1972 perfect season. Kiick and Csonka were rookies in 1968 and Morris arrived in 1969, but was mainly just the kickoff returner.

This has been a somber 6 weeks for me with Shula's death last month and now Kiick's. As a matter of fact, Kiick might hit closer to home given that he's less than a decade older than me. I grew up in Miami and watching these guys as my idols. The Dolphins were created in 1966 when I was 10 and I became a season ticket holder immediately. (Eleven games for $10! Ah, those were the days.)

I even met them all back in 2002 when the Dolphins hosted a special 40-year-reunion of the perfect season team during a MNF game. Still have a signed football from that night encased in plexiglass and hanging in my den. I'm still a fanboy even though the team has sucked for decades, lol.

Wasn't it Mercury Morris who said of Terry Bradshaw, "He couldn't spell 'cat' if you spotted him the C and the T"?

RIP Jim Kiick. I miss 2-man backfields where either guy might get the ball.

Deion has been famous for a long time; but not that long. He would have been about 11 years old when that insult was lodged by Henderson in the runup to SB XIII in Miami.

Larry Csonka was my favorite of that famous threesome backfield. Aside from his cool name, Csonka used to eat a big bowl of concrete for breakfast every morning; washed down with six giant bloody Mary’s.

Those Dolphin’s were the monsters of football.

My first favorite NFL team was the dolphins, during their Super bowl years. I remember watching the SB where they beat the Redskins for the perfect season.

A few years later, the WFL formed, and stole Csonka, Kiick, and Paul Warfield from the Dolphins, so I switched allegiances to the Buffalo Bills. No one in the WFL wanted any of their players.

Charles Webb, author of The Graduate (yep, the book that became the movie), husband of Fred (that should pique your interest), and anti-materialist supreme, died on June 16, 2020, in East Sussex, England at age 81.

I feel bad for Mel for losing his best friend...what a twosome.

98 years old! Amazing. Odd to be sad over someone reaching that age and then dying, but, man, was he a giant. While he didn't invent the sitcom, he sure perfected it.

I'm sad he won't see Trump go to prison. He was always lambasting him on Twitter lol.

There are few people who deserve the label, "legend," but Carl Reiner was one.

Reiner, Lucile Ball, Jackie Gleason, Sid Caesar....what a golden age of comedy that was.

The Lucie ball show was so good, when mainstream comedy was surrealist

The first thing I thought of was the off-screen presence of Alan Brady on the Dick Van Dyke Show. I remember him as the prototypical egocentric buffoon.

RIP Hugh. I guess it was fitting he died in 2020.

Another big one today: Ennio Morricone
