I can't believe Wallach died just hours before Heller.

I used to confuse Eli Wallach with Martin Balsam, not really sure why. I think Balsam died a while ago.

I always confused Martin Balsam with Martin Landau. I bet Barbara Bain didn't.

I always confused Martin Landau's testicles with a wad of gum stuck to the ground.

Martin Landau was great as Bela Lugosi in Ed Wood. I've often wondered what his Mission Impossible was like.

Oh, also kickass in Crimes and Misdemeanors. As was Jerry Orbach of course.

Holy Sh*t - no one posted that James Garner is still dead. He was a great actor and I loved him in Maverick - I'm so old I remember this series and would stop playing outside just to watch it. A massive sacrifice for a young kid. Anyway, I hope James resurrects himself. He was great.

Rockford's idea of a good time was eating Oreos and fishing with his dad, not spending a lost weekend with some smoky blonde. And tough talk just wasn't his thing; when some hood was beating the tar out of him, Rockford sputtered, "Does your mother have any idea what you do for a living?"

Still, the perennially broke investigator always managed to set things right, and by the end of every episode of "The Rockford Files," Rockford — a.k.a. actor James Garner — also gave viewers something they weren't getting from other tough guy heroes: laughs.

Garner, a master of light comedy who won an Emmy as Rockford and earlier had shot to fame as a charming and dry-witted gambler on the hit TV western "Maverick," died Saturday at his Los Angeles home. He was 86.

I was always a big Garner fan dating back to Maverick as well. I always thought he was the coolest of the 3 Mavericks.

He was one of the most likeable actors ever and in my mind made everything he was in better because he was in it. Known more for TV than movies he did have some great movie roles. Some of my favorites were The Great Escape, 36 Hours, The Wheeler Dealers, and Support Your Local Gunfighter.

Huge fan of the Rockford Files as a kid. Garner definitely seemed like a nice guy.

Guess I should wait a few years then make a thread about him.
