Cool thx. My wife recommends The Counterlife. Have you read that? She likes all those (especially Sabbath's Theater and Operation Shylock) and says Roth is pretty much her favorite and has read every one of his books except The Plot Against America because she doesn't like SciFi and that one is at least SciFish. My inclination would be to start with the most famous, Portnoy's Complaint, but she says it's a little maybe not dated, but less impactful than it was at the time.

I haven't read The Counterlife, no. There are quite a few I haven't, he's got a whole bunch! In the 2nd tier of ones I've read and also enjoyed I'd put Patrimony, the memoir about his father, The Ghost Writer, and I Married a Communist. Love that title!

the perpetual 2nd place finisher. Lunar module pilot on Apollo 12 (the 2nd lunar landing) and also the spacecraft commander of Skylab 3 (the 2nd manned mission to Skylab).
he was the pilot of spacecraft that totaled almost 25 million miles in space. such a boss

If you don't play guitar or you are not in a band, Mr. Snoddy may not mean much, but if you've ever cranked your pre-amp gain to 10 or played through an Ibanez Tube Screamer or a Fuzz Face or any other of a multitude of overdrive, distortion, or fuzz pedals, Mr. Snoddy started the development of these pedals (even though he originally disagreed with the sound).
