I caught a HR he into the left field bleachers at Comiskey (I believe it was '89 or '90).

George Clayton Johnson dead at age 86 on December 25, 2015. He wrote the first episode of Star Trek and Logan's Run plus a number of Twilight Zones. He developed the story that became Ocean's 11.

RIP Meadow George Lemon, better known as Meadowlark Lemon, "the Crown Prince of Basketball". Dead at 83.

As I grew up in the 1960's, when I think of the Harlem Globetrotters, the two names that always come to mind first are Meadowlark Lemon and Curly Neal.

Wilt ' The Stilt ' Chamberlain played along side Meadowlark before moving on to the fledgling NBA.

Aw man...used to go see the Globetrottters all the time as a kid. Loved Meadowlark. Curly was my favorite, though.

Oh wow. Now I know why I was dreaming about Meadowlark Lemon. I sleep with ESPN radio playing.

RIP Meadowlark. Used to love watching the Globetrotters

Does this mean the Generals have a chance now?

The end of year Sports Illustrated is out with 2015 deaths. I was sort of amazed at the number of relatively young NBA'ers on the list.

Dave Meyers 62
Anthony Mason 48
Jerome Kersey 52
Roy Tarpley 50
Darryl Dawkins 58
Hot Rod Williams 53
Moses Malone 60

seems weird

Taller guys have a lot more heart/circulatory problems. Plus, a lot of those players were known to be big partiers.

Living beyond ~65 is way overrated. Going out in a flaming flourish with just the right amount of panache at ~ 59 is le meilleur.

Think: Ambrose Bierce! [though he wanted a bit too long, still the Mexican Revolution was a great way to die]

We'd miss you, bigger.

My dad is 82 now, in great health and living well. I'll be lucky to make 60.

Hopefully I'd get a mention here.

I'm old - I remember going to see the Globetrotters and Meadowlark Lemon was one of the main attractions. That was in the late sixties.

I'm 52 and hope I make it into my 90s, but on the other hand, 54 John Entwistle years would've been ok, too.

I'm 59 and my father just celebrated his 88th b'day a couple of weeks ago. So, hopefully, I've still got two or three good decades left. I'm retired with a lifetime pension that is indexed for inflation, live in world-renowned tourist playgrounds, play poker several times a week for fun and profit, and travel domestically and internationally whenever the urge strikes.

I worked in my career for 32 years and I've been retired for 6. I agree with biggerboat; it would suck to die now with so much more living to do.

Simply trying to say that I live in nice cities, have a nice life, and I'd like it to last another 25-30 years, as opposed to the ignorant twenty-somethings here who think the good life ends once you reach middle age and that living a long life is somehow "overrated."

Ski champion Stein Eriksen, dead December 27, 2015 at age 88. When he was competing, he was a sensation. He was influential in the development of the sport and the style of the sport.

Trapper John from Mash died, Wayne Rogers 82. The show suffered as a result imo; I much preferred him to BJ.

He morphed into a financial guru/pundit later, quit acting. Always had a nice quality about him, I thought.

Dunno if much or any of MASH would hold up, but agree with the above. BJ wasn't terrible, but part of the show getting too serious. Trapper John was better.

Yeah I couldn't watch Mash now. I can easily watch Cheers or Frasier or original Bob Newhart Show.
