RIP. I grew up watching all of those corny Andy Hardy movies. The scene in Boys Town when he and Spencer Tracy meet for the first time is classic!

P. F. Sloan (birth name Philip Gary Schlein ) passed away of pancreatic cancer at the age of 70 on Sunday. Another multi talented writer and performer ( was also a session guitarist for the wrecking crew ) who wrote quite a few hits that other top acts of the 60's parlayed into top billboard hits. These included; "Eve of Destruction" (Barry McGuire); "You Baby" and "Let Me Be" (the Turtles); "A Must to Avoid" and "Hold On!" (Herman's Hermits); "Take Me For What I'm Worth" (the Searchers); and "Secret Agent Man" (Johnny Rivers).

Did someone on this thread bring up his name recently? Because if not, given that Mickey Rooney died in April 2014, I'm trying to figure out why doublejoker just randomly decided to post that he was 93.

Probably best known for his iconic scene in Big dancing on a giant keyboard with Tom Hanks at FAO Schwartz. Also well known for gangster roles such as those he played in Scarface and The Sopranos.

RIP David Lee Henderson who passed away @ 57 due to a heart attack. For those die hard California Angel fans, no one will ever forget how with one swing of the bat he transformed the Red Sox from also rans to the AL champions.
The year was 1986 and the California Angels were hosting the Boston Red Sox in the ALCS. The Angels were up 3-1 and were on the verge of going to their very first WS. With the star reliever of the Angels ( Donnie Moore ) the Halos were leading 5-4 needing only one more out. The Red Sox were down to their last batter as Henderson was at the plate down two strikes when he connected with a heartbreaking home run that put the Bo Sox up 6-5. Neither the Angels or their reliever Donnie Moore ever recovered. Boston went home and swept the Angels and the local fans never forgave Donnie for serving up that gopher ball. Unfortunately , Donnie never forgave himself either .

Hendu they called him, remember him well. Seemed to enjoy playing.

I pitched against Henderson in 1977 in the Northwest League. He was a monster at 19 and everyone in the league knew he was going to make it to the majors. Also every bit as nice and gregarious as mentioned. RIP.
