He never said it bothered him in public, as far as I know, and I think he preferred not having the spotlight. Seems he had a job to do, and did his part. I'd hate to be the guy who would have to make the decision to go home alone, if it came to that. Ended up being a good ending for all, but history and space travel may have ended up very different if it hadn't.
Michael Collins wrote a memoir called Carrying the Fire which I thought was the best book on the space program. Not everyone agrees with that assessment, but it's well worth a read imo
There is an Unser Racing Museum in Albuquerque, NM about the entire Unser family and their racing history/legacy which is well worth a visit. Well done and some great race cars to boot. Very cool.
RIP Charles Grodin, he was one of those guys who was always great. But he was especially hilarious whenever he was on Johnny Carson with his deadpan wierdo behavior.
RIP the great Charles Grodin...always underrated, but always brilliant.
He was under-cast so often and was in so many mediocre films.
It was almost a miracle that Martin Brest rejected studio choice Robin Williams and insisted on Grodin for Jonathon ‘The Duke’ Mardukas, for which he was perfect.
