I have to disagree. I've been watching MNF since Keith Jackson handled the play-by-play, and in my mind there is absolutely no comparison between the job Al Michaels did and that of Frank Gifford. In fact, there was a reason that Michaels replaced Gifford as play-by-play in the mid-80s, and that was because ABC recognized that Al was vastly superior at those duties.
As an aside, exactly what is ironic about Gifford and O.J. both starring at USC and then being on MNF? It was certainly a coincidence, but I fail to see any irony.
