Ed Kranepool will live forever, if not on this earth then in our hearts. Tommy Agee is still there.

Lou Henson, basketball coach. Took both Illinois and New Mexico State to NCAA Final Fours. Also known for the "Lou-do", widely suspected to be a toupee.

And another Covid denier bites the dust.

Herman Cain, former Presidential candidate and close associate of DJT, has died of the coronovirus. He was diagnosed on July 1st, shortly after attending Trump's Oklahoma rally (within the incubation period of 10 days), where he of course did not wear a mask and did not practice any social distancing.

RIP

I always liked Herman Cain, he seemed a decent and solid human being.

I'm surprised he's known in GB. Is that through his presidential run?

I've heard of The Caine Mutiny, by Herman Wouk.

For me, yes, but I followed his work a little after

Whenever I think of Wilford Brimley, the first thing that comes to my mind is this scene from one of my favorite movies, Absence of Malice.

Somehow I don't think I've ever seen him in a movie.

As a baseball fan you never saw the Natural? He was always great in everything but also always seemed to be an old man even before he really was.

Yes, somehow I've never gotten around to The Natural. Read the book though.

Wilford Brimley was 50 years old when he played an old man in Cocoon. For contrast, Keanu Reeves is 55.

There's a scene in Shoot the Moon, where Diane Keaton is in the tub, broken-hearted over the dissolution of her marriage, sings "If I Fell" that absolutely slays me. Alan Parker always amazed me, because every one of his films is so, so different from one another. He was a modern John Huston.

When Parker died, I had to look him up to see who he was. It turned out I had seen quite a few of his movies, but it had never occured to me that they were directed by the same person.

He was really top notch, but reading the list of his films was like finding out that Wes Anderson had directed Sid and Nancy. He did what? The Wall, The Commitments and Angel Heart.

his entire filmography reads like someone intentionally trying to do something different than everything else he's done before.
got to give the man credit for that...never satisfied with the previous and always exploring.

Wilford Brimley, otherwise known as Mr. Mumbles, should have died 80 years ago. As he is roasting in Hell now, perhaps Satan can give him Pointers on enunciation and how to clearly pronounce words like, Go and Shoe and Moreover. I hope Mr. Mumbles tongue is burning red hot right now. The Blubbering Slob.

I have the same reaction whenever I glance at Ang Lee's filmography.

Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk
Life of Pi
Taking Woodstock
Brokeback Mountain
Hulk
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
The Ice Storm
Sense and Sensibility
