RIP Fred Willard - He was always great

Dom are you thinking of Fernwood Tonight instead of Mary Hartman? If I remember right they were on back to back? Fernwood was gone all too soon as that show was totally hilarious.

EDIT:

Apparently Fred Willard was NOT in Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman.

Strange, how memory works.
I wanted to post a clip of his great turn as the announcer in Dodgeball, but youtube wouldn't give one up.

Fernwood a trailblazer that beget The Larry Sanders Show. Was it Martin Mull on Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, the famous XMAS tree killing?

I watched Fernwood as a kid. He was the perfect foil for Martin Mull.

Great in Best in Show and so many other movies and shows as well. RIP.

Lynn Shelton, 54

Incredibly talented writer and director, partner of Marc Maron. Apparently of a rare blood disorder. Was listening to Maron’s podcast yesterday, and he mentioned that she was feeling sick this week, and they tested her for COVID, but she she didn’t have it.

Collapsed yesterday and died last night.

Just awful.

She directed some of the episodes of "Little Fires Everywhere" that was recently released on Hulu. Pretty good show.

RIP Phyllis George former Miss America and NFL Today host. First woman I can remember being involved in football journalism.

Ffs hearing about Lynn Shelton was sad today.

And then I see Fred Willard? I have always thought he’s the single funniest person Ive seen on screen; his scenes put me in tears still.

Couldn’t believe he was 86 either. RIP Fred, you sure were great.

I read this today about him:

In a 2006 interview with Tad Friend of New Yorker Magazine, Willard described his understanding on death saying, "If it was up to me, nothing would ever change, no one would ever die. On the other hand," he added, "then no one could have babies, either, because it would get too crowded."

RIP Ken Osmond aka Eddie Haskell

Eddie Haskell was easily one of my all-time favorite TV characters.

Phil May, lead singer of the Pretty Things, died May 15 at age 75, from complications following hip surgery after a cycling accident. I guess he still wasn't taking things easy even at his advanced age; the band still played regularly until 2018. If you've never listened to the band, give them a try. Here's one of their early songs.

You know, one of the things about getting older than no one ever tells you about, is having to watch all the entertainers, sports stars, and other heroes you grew up with pass away....

Pretty Things S.F. Sorrow, Pink Floyd A Saucerful of Secrets and the Beatles White Album were all worked on at the same time between 67-68 at Abby Road.
interesting reference to keep in mind next time you listen to them.

I had no idea that A Saucerful of Secrets was recorded at Abbey Road. It seems strange now. It would have seemed even stranger then.

this was during the transition from Barrett to Gilmour. can't imagine what that was like and the influence on other recordings.

Not enough people died today. This has been a continuous problem since the 1300’s.
